Dana White isn’t exactly sure what will come next for UFC Vegas 42 winner Max Holloway, but it won’t be a rematch with Conor McGregor. Holloway returned to action in the headliner of today’s event in Las Vegas for a bout with perennial division contender Yair Rodriguez (13-3 MMA). The contest marked Max’s first since January, where he had earned a lopsided unanimous decision victory over Calvin Kattar.

Conor McGregor obviously tuned in to watch his former opponent Max Holloway take on Yair Rodriguez in today’s UFC Vegas 42 main event. McGregor (22-6 MMA) and Holloway (23-6 MMA) of course have a history. The pair met at featherweight way back in April of 2013, with ‘Notorious’ emerging victorious by way of unanimous decision.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos claims Mike Tyson owes him $50k after getting him snubbed of a previous performance bonus. Dos Santos (21-9 MMA) was handed his walking papers from UFC officials shortly after suffering a TKO loss to Ciryl Gane in December of 2020. The setback had marked the former champions fourth in a row, with all 4 of those losses coming by way of stoppage.

It was the Brazilians first Octagon appearance since suffering a 13-second loss to the aforementioned Conor McGregor at UFC 194.

Lombard and Hunt were looking to settle a heated rivalry to settle this evening Miami. The pair had originally crossed paths at BKFC 18 in the immediate aftermath of Hector’s win over Joe Riggs. Hunt, who is an MMA fighter-turned BKFC competitor, entered the ring and approached the Cuban which resulted in Lombard throwing and landing a two-punch combination.

The official weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 42 took place on Friday in Las Vegas, and 20 of the 22 fighters scheduled to compete have made weight. In the main event, both headliners in Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez successfully made weight for their featherweight bout. Holloway stepped onto the scale at 146lbs while Rodriguez was 145.5lbs, so the UFC Vegas 42 main event is now official.

UFC lightweight contender Justin Gaethje believes that former divisional champion Khabib Nurmagomedov is not running his Twitter account. On Friday, Nurmagomedov’s Twitter account posted something that criticized Ferguson for his recent stretch. For Nurmagomedov, Ferguson hasn’t accomplished much over the past six years, and he made sure to let his former rival know that on social media. The thing is, Nurmagomedov is currently a retired fighter, so it came out of nowhere to see him criticizing Ferguson, particularly since both men are at completely different points in their careers. While Nurmagomedov is happily retired at the top of his game, Ferguson has struggled badly in the last few years to even get into the win column.
