Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has announced a historic shoe partnership with the UFC. Johnson has collaborated with popular sports manufacturer Under Armour for a few years now, creating a brand dubbed “Project Rock” that has seen clothing, gym accessories, and sneakers made reminiscent of the actor’s style. Johnson’s brand has now taken a huge step, as it’s the official footwear partner for the UFC.

Mark Hunt, a New Zealand former mixed martial artist and kickboxer of Samoan descent who currently lives in Australia, has called out Dana White and the Fertitta brothers (Frank & Lorenzo) concerning his lawsuit against the UFC. Hunt, former title contender called out White and his associates for a three vs. one matchup, thereby settling his legal battles in an MMA bout.

In an appearance on ‘The MMA Hour’, Jorge Masvidal reacted to the news that UFC star Amanda Nunes has left American Top Team: “To see her progress is amazing. To see her progress under American Top Team, my same gym, it’s like wow! I never worked out with her or sparred or anything but to some extent, the journey that she had was like shared with me. It just definitely hurts not to have her there I think.” Masvidal said (h/t WMMARankings). “But man, I’m just always wishing the best for her. She’s going to do her own thing….Obviously, it hurts and obviously, I want her to stay at American Top Team and I think we all do, we all love her. So it’s like a… It’s a devastating blow.”

The bullet is making a quick return to the cage, only three months from last fighting in front of Dana White where he got the victory, however, he didn’t leave with a UFC contract. We sat down with Andres at his home in Albuquerque where he discussed his upcoming fight, the potential of making it to the UFC this year and how he was inspired by Nick Diaz. His last fight came with a bit of controversy. Andres made weight, however, his opponent missed, “there was a mixup on the tape and they had his stats listed under me and my stats listed under him.” Although he did get the win in a dominate performance Andres believes if he would have gotten the finish there would have been no questions asked. “I always look to finish and I believe if i would have finished him i’d be in the UFC.”

The win sent shockwaves throughout the sport of mixed martial arts and now, fans are clamouring to see them run it back with an immediate rematch.

Frevola had a rough 2021 as he went 0-2, losing a decision to Arman Tsarukyan at UFC 257 and suffering a seven-second KO loss to Terrance McKinney at UFC 263. However, he fought Tsarukyan on a days’ notice and took the McKinney fight on a couple of days’ notice as well.

Tom Aspinall will be headlining UFC London but it won’t be against his original opponent. According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, Aspinall was originally supposed to fight Shamil Abdurakhimov. However, Shamil was pulled from the fight and the Brit will now face Alexander Volkov instead.

In the main event of the first pay-per-view card in 2022, Ngannou is set to defend his heavyweight title for the first time against the interim champ, Ciryl Gane. It’s a fascinating fight due to them being ex-training partners, but a big storyline for the scrap is the fact this is Ngannou’s last fight on his contract.

Kay Hansen was supposed to fight on January 15, but after hearing UFC 270 was the week after in Anaheim, she made it clear she wanted to be on that card. Hansen is from Anaheim and of course wanted to be a part of the card but her managers initial request to have the bout moved didn’t happen. However, she decided to take matters into her own hands and messaged Dana White herself to move the fight, and just a day later she got her wish.

In the co-main event of UFC 270, the flyweight title is on the line as Brandon Moreno and Deiveson Figueiredo have their trilogy. Heading into the fight, Moreno is a -180 favorite while the Brazilian is a +155 underdog. Ahead of the fight, BJPENN.com reached out to several pro fighters to get their prediction for the scrap. The pros are unanimous in thinking Moreno beats Figueiredo for the second straight time to defend his belt.
