Jack Della Maddalena admits that getting past Kevin Holland was no easy task. Maddalena and Holland shared the Octagon inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada in the co-main event of Noche UFC. The bout was tough to score, as both men had success in the standup but were equally as effective with their defense. Ultimately, this one went the distance and ended in a split decision. Two of the three judges scored the fight for Maddalena, awarding him the win.

Raul Rosas Jr. believes he has the potential to be a big star under the UFC banner. Going into Noche UFC, many wondered how Rosas would perform after suffering the first loss of his pro MMA career against Christian Rodriguez back in April. “El Niño Problema” answered by turning in a stellar showing against Terrence Mitchell in Las Vegas. It only took Rosas 54 seconds to put Mitchell away via TKO.
Edgar Chairez plans to appeal no decision ruling in Noche UFC bout with Daniel Lacerda

Edgar Chairez isn’t happy about his Noche UFC submission win being overturned upon replay, and he’s appealing the No Contest. Chairez took on Daniel Lacerda in a preliminary bout on the card. The two collided inside the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the opening frame, Chairez locked up a standing guillotine choke, and referee Chris Tognoni thought Lacerda went out and stopped the fight. Lacerda immediately protested the stoppage. Replays were in use during Noche UFC, and upon further review, the bout result was changed to a No Contest.

Former UFC heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos certainly isn’t thinking about retirement right now. Dos Santos recently shared the cage with an old foe under bare knuckle MMA rules. “Cigano” went one-on-one with fellow legend Fabricio Werdum earlier this month. It was Werdum’s chance to avenge his now-famous 2008 loss to Dos Santos, which was held under the UFC banner. Ultimately, “Vai Cavalo” once again fell short against Dos Santos, this time via split decision. After the fight, Dos Santos appeared to be quite happy with his handiwork. He didn’t look like someone on the verge of retirement, and he has confirmed plans to continue fighting.

Valentina Shevchenko fell just short in her bid to reclaim the UFC women’s flyweight title against Alexa Grasso this evening. Shevchenko (23-4-1 MMA) and Grasso (16-3-1 MMA) squared off for a second time tonight in Las Vegas. The pair had previously collided at UFC 285 back in March, where Grasso shocked the world by scoring a fourth-round submission victory over the longtime champion.

The Octagon returned to Las Vegas for tonight’s Noche UFC event, an eleven-bout fight card headlined by Alexa Grasso vs. Valentina Shevchenko 2. The highly anticipated women’s flyweight title fight rematch proved to be a thrilling back and forth contest. Valentina Shevchenko had a strong start to the fight, getting the better of Alexa Grasso throughout the opening five minutes. However, in round two, Grasso was able to drop ‘The Bullet’ with a beautiful counter punch and went on to easily win the second frame. Rounds 3, 4 and 5 were all close, but fans and analysts were seemingly divided on who they thought won after twenty-five minutes of action. In the end, the judges were torn as well, as the bout was ruled a split draw.

Former UFC fighter Sam Alvey made his debut with Karate Combat this evening in the Dominican Republic. Alvey (34-18-1 MMA) had a lengthy stint with the UFC, fighting under the promotional banner from 2014 to 2022. Early in his tenure, ‘Smilin Sam’ proved his case as a legitimate middleweight contender, defeating the likes of Rashad Evans, Nate Marquardt, Dan Kelly, and others. However, things took a turn for the worse in 2018. That year, Sam Alvey began a brutal nine-fight winless streak which saw him alternate between middleweight and light-heavyweight regularly. After a knockout loss to Michal Oleksiejczuk in August of 2022, he was released by Dana White and company.

AJ McKee books Bellator return for November, next opponent revealed

Former Bellator featherweight champion AJ McKee has booked his return to the cage. ‘Mercenary’ has been out of the cage since a unanimous decision victory over Roberto de Souza last December. AJ McKee’s victory came in the main event of Bellator X RIZIN, and it was his second in a row. That October, he scored a unanimous decision victory over UFC veteran Spike Carlyle.
