Interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall has revealed that welterweight kingpin Leon Edwards is helping him prepare for the UFC 304 start time. Aspinall has been outspoken about the UFC’s decision to have the same 10 p.m. ET start time for the Manchester card, meaning Aspinall won’t be fighting until very early in the morning local time. The interim champ even tried convincing the UFC to change the start time, but he didn’t have any luck.

Sean O’Malley believes Conor McGregor feels he messed up when he insulted him online. McGregor took aim at boxer Ryan Garcia being popped for ostarine, and he also went after O’Malley for being flagged for that same substance in 2019. Many were surprised that McGregor went after O’Malley given the two have exchanged pleasantries in the past.

The Octagon returned to Kentucky for tonight’s UFC Louisville event, a 14-bout fight card headlined by Jared Cannonier vs. Nassourdine Imavov. The highly anticipated middleweight main event resulted in a controversial fourth-round stoppage win for Nassourdine Imavov. The fight itself started with a strong opening round for Jared Cannonier, who seemingly landed his strikes at will in the opening five minutes. However, rounds two and three proved to be closely contested frames and heading into the fourth round it was anyone’s guess who was actually up on the judges’ scorecards. Then, in round four, Imavov was able to rock ‘The Killa Gorilla’ with a right hook and began to unload another combination. That prompted the referee to step in and call the fight off. Cannonier was not happy with the stoppage and according to his peers was justified in being upset.

Sean Strickland has confirmed he plans to wait for the next title shot following an endorsement from Jon Anik. Strickland (29-6 MMA) lost his middleweight title to Dricus Du Plessis (21-2 MMA) this past January at UFC 297. ‘Tarzan’ went on to fight and defeat Paulo Costa (14-4 MMA) by split-decision just last weekend, June 1st, at UFC 302.

John Castaneda was hoping to return much sooner but he’s glad he’s getting a good opponent at UFC Louisville. Castaneda last fought in November when he defeated Kyung Ho Kang by decision at UFC 295. After that, Castaneda says he did get a fight offer in March but decided to turn it down, as he didn’t think it made sense for him.

UFC star Michael Chandler quelled some fears of his upcoming Conor McGregor fight not coming to fruition on June 29th. Chandler and McGregor are scheduled to headline the UFC’s International Fight Week event at UFC 303 in Las Vegas. The fight has been in the works and discussed for almost two full years and is now just weeks away.

Former UFC middleweight champion Luke Rockhold has nothing but disdain for Sean Strickland. The 39-year-old is fresh off a knockout victory over Joe Schilling in late April at Karate Combat 45. That win was Luke Rockhold’s first since a stoppage victory over David Branch in September 2017. In the years following that win, the former champion suffered three straight UFC losses. Rockhold ultimately retired after a loss to Paulo Costa in late 2022.

Later this month, the former two-weight world champion will face Michael Chandler at UFC 303 in Las Vegas.

UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira was sparring with heavyweight contender Tai Tuivasa. Pereira was in Sydney, Australia for a visit and while he was there he went out and trained with Tuivasa. Although the two aren’t in the same weight class, the two did have a light sparring with one another. It wasn’t much, but Pereira did look like he held his own in the spar.
