Former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier has taken a shot at Nate Diaz following today’s news that the Stockton native will no longer be fighting at UFC 244. Diaz was expected to square off with Jorge Masvidal in the headliner of November’s pay-per-view event in New York. The winner of that welterweight fight was set to receive the promotions new BMF Title.

It appears the UFC has had a backup plan in case either of Nate Diaz or Jorge Masvidal had to pull out of their UFC 244 main event. And, that backup plan is Leon Edwards. According to Chisanga Malata of Daily Star Sport, the UFC have been paying Edwards to be in a training camp and on standby for this fight.

Jorge Masvidal and Nate Diaz were supposed to square off for the promotions new BMF Title in the main event of UFC 244 next month in New York. However, earlier this afternoon ‘The Stockton Slugger’ took to Twitter where he announced that he had been flagged by USADA and thus would not be competing on the November 2 fight card at Madison Square Garden.

The opening betting odds have been released for potential matchups featuring Conor McGregor vs. Donald Cerrone, as well as McGregor vs. Justin Gaethje. The Irish superstar announced at a press conference on Thursday that he intends to main event UFC 246 on January 18 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. UFC president Dana White said that contracts are still being negotiated, and McGregor’s opponent has yet to be finalized, but reports indicate it will come down to either Cerrone or Gaethje.
