Kape (18-6 MMA) will enter the Octagon sporting a three-fight winning streak, his latest being a unanimous decison victory over David Dvorak this past December. Prior to that win, ‘Starboy’ was coming off back-to-back stoppage wins over Ode’ Osbourne and Zhalgas Zhumagulov.

For his part, Israel Adesanya enters the matchup fresh off his championship rematch with Alex Pereira at UFC 287. In April, he scored a second-round knockout win over ‘Poatan’ to win the gold.

UFC flyweight contenders Kai Kara-France and Manel Kape are set to collide in September. ‘Don’t Blink’ is fresh off his return at UFC Vegas 74 earlier this month. The bout was Kai Kara-France’s first since coming up short against Brandon Moreno for interim gold last July. As the headliner, he faced Amir Albazi. In the flyweight main event, many felt that the New Zealander did much of the better work.

Deiveson Figueiredo has reportedly been forced to withdraw from his scheduled return to the Octagon later this year. For the last few years, Deiveson Figueiredo has been involved in one of the best rivalries in UFC history. Alongside Brandon Moreno, the two men fought for the UFC flyweight championship four times. They split one win each alongside a draw and as a result, they took part in one final collision at UFC 283.

Deiveson Figueiredo opts to stay at flyweight and books fight with Manel Kape for UFC 290 in July

Former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo is deciding to stick at 125 pounds. ‘Deus da Guerra’ has been out of action since his fourth fight with Brandon Moreno in January. Heading into the matchup at UFC 283, the series sat at 1-1-1. Furthermore, the bout was the first time two fighters in the company’s history had clashed on four occasions.

Alexandre Pantoja vs. Manel Kape re-booked for potential flyweight title eliminator

Alexandre Pantoja and Manel Kape have been re-booked for a potential flyweight title eliminator against each other for early next year. Pantoja vs. Kape was originally scheduled to take place at UFC Vegas 17 on December 19 in Las Vegas, but the bout fell apart after Pantoja withdrew from the bout. The UFC then pulled Kape from the card as well and tabbed him to be the backup fighter to the UFC 256 main event between UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno. However, both Figueiredo and Moreno made weight and Kape never ended up making his UFC debut after all at UFC 256.
