Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill has vented his frustration after Khalil Rountree was given the next title shot at 205lbs. UFC CEO Dana White announced on Friday that Pereira would be defending his light heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 307 in Utah against Rountree. The fight came as a huge surprise, especially due to the fact that Rountree was pulled from his last fight against Hill due to a failed drug test.

Khalil Rountree Jr has received a reduced suspension from CSAD after providing evidence that he did not knowingly take a banned substance. As many fight fans will know, Khalil Rountree Jr was scheduled to take on Jamahal Hill at UFC 303. It would’ve served as the biggest fight of his career to date against a man who, just over a month ago, was the UFC light heavyweight champion.

Khalil Rountree Jr. will not be facing Jamahal Hill at UFC 303, and he has issued a statement after being removed from the card. As it turns out, Rountree was flagged for Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) use. The light heavyweight says that an accidental blend from a personalized supplement company is to blame for the DHEA finding. While Rountree has been temporarily suspended, he insisted that he never took the banned substance intentionally.

Jamahal Hill will be making a quick turnaround as he has been booked to fight Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 303 on June 29. Hill (12-2 MMA) is of course coming off a first-round KO loss to Alex Pereira in his bid to reclaim the promotion‘s light heavyweight title in the main event of UFC 300 (see that here). That setback had marked Jamahal’s first fight since January of 2023, where he defeated Glover Teixeira to claim the vacant light heavyweight title at UFC 283. Jamahal Hill had earned that title opportunity after scoring three consecutive knockouts over Jimmy Crute, Johnny Walker and Thiago Santos.

Khalil Rountree isn’t pounding the table to fight UFC lightweight champion Alex Pereira this second, but he does believe the fight would have some juice to it. Rountree has been rolling inside the Octagon as of late. He recently extended his winning streak to five by stopping Anthony Smith via TKO in the third round. “The War Horse” earned his second “Performance of the Night” bonus as a result of his handiwork at UFC Vegas 83.

Chris Daukaus is excited to finally make his light heavyweight debut. After Daukaus suffered his third-straight knockout loss back in December to Jairzinho Rozenstruik, he announced he would be dropping down to light heavyweight. Daukaus did a test cut which went well and was then booked to face Khalil Rountree at UFC 289 in June. However, just under two weeks before the event, Daukaus had to withdraw due to an undisclosed injury.

A light heavyweight contest featuring Khalil Rountree taking on Dustin Jacoby kicks off tonight’s UFC Vegas 63 main card. Rountree (11-5 MMA) was most recently seen in action this past March, where he scored a second-round TKO victory over Karl Roberson. That win served as the second straight for ‘The War Horse’, as he had previously TKO’d Modestas Bukauskas in September of 2021.

Dustin Jacoby was hoping for a ranked opponent next time out but is happy to be facing Khalil Rountree next time out. Jacoby scored a first-round KO win over Da Un Jung back at UFC Long Island in his first fight as a ranked light heavyweight. After the win, he wanted to face another ranked opponent but that won’t be the case as he will take on Rountree at UFC Vegas 63.

Dan Hardy can’t believe that some fighters called for the banning of oblique kicks following Khalil Rountree’s TKO victory over Modestas Bukauskas. Rountree (9-5 MMA) squared off with Bukauskas (11-5 MMA) on the main card of last weekend’s UFC Vegas 36 event. The result was a second round TKO victory for ‘The War Horse’, who destroyed the knee of Modestas with a nasty oblique kick.

UFC light heavyweight Khalil Rountree issued a statement after his leg kick TKO win at UFC Vegas 36, saying “fighting is f*cking dangerous.” Rountree landed a devastating oblique kick against the left kick of Modestas Bukauskas at UFC Vegas 36 on Saturday night, which unfortunately left his opponent with a broken leg. It was a very brutal finish to the fight, but we have seen a lot of legs broken in 2021, which once again reminds everyone of the very risks that the fighters go through inside the Octagon. Following the win over Bukauskas, Rountree took to his social media to remind everyone that although MMA is a sport, it can also be extremely dangerous at times.

UFC light heavyweight Modestas Bukauskas says he broke his leg following a brutal oblique kick from Khalil Rountree at UFC Vegas 36. Rountree’s back was up against the wall heading into this fight after losing his last two outings, and he made good on that with one of the best performances of his UFC career. For the first round of the fight, Rountree was constantly beating Bukauskas to the punch the whole time, and then in the second round, he began lighting up his opponent with low kicks. At the 2:30 mark of the second round, Rountree landed an absolutely brutal oblique kick that knocked Bukauskas to the floor and forced referee Herb Dean to stop the fight.

Rountree (9-5 MMA) squared off with fellow light heavyweight Modestas Bukauskas (11-5 MMA) on the main card of today’s Fight Night event in Las Vegas. Both men had entered the contest looking to rebound from two-fight losing skids.
