Kevin Holland gunning for rematch with UFC Winnipeg headliner Mike Malott after UFC 327: ‘I’d finish him’

Kevin Holland is hopeful to get a rematch with Mike Malott after UFC 327.

Holland returned to the win column on Saturday with a decision win over Randy Brown, which snapped his two-fight losing skid, as he dropped back-to-back decisions to Malott and Daniel Rodriguez. With Holland back in the win column, he hopes the victory does enough so he can earn a rematch with Malott, whether he beats Gilbert Burns or not at UFC Winnipeg on Saturday.

“In reality, my guy D-Rod, me, and him could shake back our story later,” Holland said to Ariel Helwani. “He should go out and find out how far he can throw this football. Mike Malott, whether it’s win, lose, or draw for him, I need that one. If I’ve gotta go get one more in between, and then I’ve gotta shake all the way to Canada and do that fight again, I’ll do that fight again.

“If he does foul play, you have to punish him for foul play. I’ll do that to get that fight again. If I rematched Malott, I think I’d finish him 100 percent. I was on my way to finishing him before he kicked me in the balls last time.”

Kevin Holland expects Mike Malott to lose at UFC Winnipeg

Although Holland wants the Malott rematch, he doesn’t care if he wins on Saturday at UFC Winnipeg or not. But, Holland does think Burns will be able to turn back the clock and get the win to silence the Canadian crowd.

“I don’t think he wins this weekend,” Holland said. “I mean, people are writing off Burns like Burns ain’t who Burns is. He has some mean, mean shots that he tends to throw, and Malott is there to get hit by those shots. On the ground, I didn’t feel like there was nothing special Malott could do, and I feel like there are a lot of things special Burns could do. I would have to put it on Burns.”

If Holland is correct and Malott loses to Burns, it does make a rematch between the two easier to happen next time out.
