Following their main event of UFC 256, the official judges’ scorecards were released for the Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno war. The UFC 256 headliner turned out to be one of the greatest fights of the year, the greatest flyweight fight of all time, and one of the best fights in UFC history, period. Both Figueiredo and Moreno went to the well for the full 25 minutes and the fight went down to the wire as both men had their moments. As well, a point deduction from referee Jason Herzog also had to be factored in. At the end of the five rounds, most fans and media were unsure about who the judges would ultimately side with.

The bonus awards for UFC 256 have been handed out, and Deiveson Figueiredo vs. Brandon Moreno won “Fight of the Night” for their crazy war. Figueiredo and Moreno went five hard rounds in the main event of UFC 256, fighting to a majority draw at the end of 25 minutes. Both men threw everything they had at each other in the best flyweight fight ever, and one of the greatest fights in UFC history, in general. It was an epic contest between two amazing fighters at the top of their game and fans were lucky they were treated to such an incredible contest.

UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo has revealed what weight he expects to step into the Octagon at on Saturday night at UFC 256. Figueiredo is one of the biggest flyweights in the UFC and he has struggled to make the 125lbs mark in the past, most notably missing weight for his first fight against Joseph Benavidez back in February. Figueiredo ended up winning that fight and then took the rematch on Fight Island, this time making weight. He just made weight for his recent title defense against Alex Perez at UFC 255 and he expects to make weight again when he takes on Brandon Moreno at UFC 256 this Saturday night in Las Vegas.

The UFC now has a backup fighter in place for the UFC 256 flyweight title fight between Deiveson Figueiredo and Brandon Moreno. According to MMAFighting’s Mike Heck, Manel Kape, who was supposed to fight Alexandre Pantoja on Dec. 19 will now be the backup fighter for UFC 256.

UFC flyweight contender Cody Garbrandt called Brandon Moreno “a lamb being led to the slaughterhouse” against Deiveson Figueiredo. Garbrandt was actually supposed to be the one who fought Figueiredo at UFC 255 for the UFC flyweight title, but he injured his arm and then got sick with COVID-19. Instead, Figueiredo fought Alex Perez and he finished the challenger in the first round of their main event title fight in November. On the undercard of the same event, Brandon Moreno finished Brandon Royval and earned the next title shot against Figueiredo. The two will now clash in the main event of UFC 256 next weekend in Las Vegas.

Former UFC flyweight champion Henry Cejudo has made his pick for the upcoming title fight between current champ Deiveson Figueiredo and challenger Brandon Moreno. Henry Cejudo captured the UFC flyweight title with a controversial split decision defeat of of Demetrious Johnson in August, 2018. After defending the title with a knockout of TJ Dillashaw in January 2019, he then ventured up to bantamweight, where he captured the vacant title with a defeat of Marlon Moraes, and retired after defending the belt against Dominick Cruz.

MMA manager Wallid Ismail has announced on social media that the UFC has signed Francisco Figueiredo, the brother of Deiveson Figueiredo. It’s been a good few weeks for the Figueiredo brothers. First, Deiveson defeated Alex Perez by submission at UFC 255 to defend his flyweight belt for the first time. The promotion then booked him against Brandon Moreno at UFC 256. Then UFC president Dana White handed him a bag of cash. Now his brother Francisco is making good in his own right, as he’s just been signed to the UFC. Ismail announced on social media that the younger Figueiredo brother signed with the UFC (via MMAFighting.com).

UFC president Dana White handed UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo $50,000 in cash and admitted he snubbed him of a bonus at UFC 255. Figueiredo had an incredible performance at UFC 255 last weekend as he submitted challenger Alex Perez in the first round with a guillotine choke for his first official title defense. Following the event, the UFC handed out its customary post-fight bonuses. Winning “Performance of the Night” was Antonina Shevchenko and Joaquin Buckley, and “Fight of the Night” went to Sasha Palatnikov and Louis Cosce. Somehow, White didn’t give Figueiredo a bonus despite having a great finish in a title fight. He was snubbed.

UFC flyweight contender Alex Perez has released a statement in the wake of his first-round submission loss to Deiveson Figueiredo at UFC 256. After a destructive TKO over Jussier Formiga in his last outing, Perez was supposed to be a live dog according to many fans and bettors heading into the fight, but he made a mistake early on. After getting caught up with Figueiredo in a grappling exchange on the mat, Perez left his neck free for half a second and that was all that the champ needed. A second later and Figueiredo was cranking tight on the neck of Perez and forcing him to tap out, handing Perez his first loss in nearly two years.
