Over the course of the last few months we’ve seen the rivalry between Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen, which many believed to be dead and buried, intensify. It was initially centred around Jones and his recent run-in with the law but after Sonnen was also charged with five counts of battery, “Bones” couldn’t help but throw shade in the direction of his former Octagon foe.

However, Jung is injured and with that, Hooker says he talked to Sean Shelby at UFC 269 and asked for Brian Ortega which Shelby did not shut down, so “The Hangman” is hoping that is the fight.

Now, after the test cut was successful, he says it’s a very real possibility his next fight is at featherweight as he says it’s time to start doing what the rest of the fighters are doing and that is cutting weight.

UFC lightweight contender Islam Makhachev trolled UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya after beating Dan Hooker at UFC 267. Makhachev absolutely smashed Hooker in their lightweight bout that took place at last Saturday’s UFC 267 card. The Russian took Hooker down immediately in the first round and began to go to work with his submissions, and soon afterward he was able to lock up the kimura and force Hooker to tap out. It was an absolutely phenomenal victory by Makhachev, who proved without a doubt that he is one of the top-five fighters in the UFC lightweight division. It was also the type of victory that gave Makhachev a lot more confidence in himself, and now he is taking shots at Hooker’s teammate in Adesanya.

UFC lightweight Dan Hooker blasted middleweight Paulo Costa over his giant weight miss, saying “that is just a massive ‘F you’ to the fans.” Costa was set to fight Marvin Vettori in a middleweight bout that served as the main event of UFC Vegas 41, but Costa showed up heavy to fight week. Because he couldn’t make the 185lbs limit, the fight was then moved to a 195lbs catchweight, and then to the 205lbs light heavyweight limit. Costa was fined 30% of his purse and the fight went on at 205, with Vettori winning a unanimous decision in a back-and-forth fight.

Hooker admitted that the UFC paid him a lot of money in order to take the fight, and as far as Abdelaziz goes, that’s the only reason why he took the fight. Speaking to MMAjunkie.com, Abdelaziz accused Hooker of taking the fight with Makhachev only because he will get paid hadnsomely not because he can actually win it.
