Former UFC champions Anderson Silva and Vitor Belfort will both be competing at tonight’s ‘Triller: Legends 2’ event in Florida. Belfort (26-14 MMA, 1-0 Boxing) is set to headline the fight card opposite former four-time world heavyweight champion Evander Holyfield.

Triller Fight Club: ‘Holyfield vs Belfort’ takes place this evening on pay-per-view live from the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. Tonight’s “Legends 2” event was originally slated to take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. However, the fight card was moved after headliner Oscar De La Hoya was forced out due to illness, and Evander Holyfield was booked as the short-notice replacement for Vitor Belfort. California would not sanction the Holyfield vs Belfort fight to take place in its state and which resulted in the event being moved to Florida.

The Triller Fight Club “Legends 2” card takes place this Saturday night at the Seminole Hard Rock in Hollywood, Florida. Ortiz was the mayor pro tem of his native Huntington Beach, California, but he resigned in June after six months on the job for several reasons including perceived “character assassination.” Not long after Ortiz resigned from his position as mayor pro tem, he was booked for his boxing match this Saturday night against fellow former UFC fighter Silva.

Ortiz has been vocal that he will have a hard time making the 195-pound weight limit for his boxing match against Silva. Right when the fight was made, Ortiz was mad that the Brazilian was making him cut all the extra weight and he has said he may not make it.

Silva is now 46 years old but he isn’t letting Father Time stop him from still competing at a high level. Last fall, the UFC released Silva following a KO loss to Uriah Hall. While many fans and media wrote him off at that point, Silva decided to make the jump into the world of pro boxing, and back in June, he picked up an upset split decision win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. It was a good performance by Silva, and he now takes on former UFC champion Tito Ortiz next weekend in another pro boxing match, this time for the Triller Fight Club.

UFC Hall of Famer Tito Ortiz revealed that he is “probably 212 pounds” just five days out of his boxing match against Anderson Silva. Ortiz takes on Silva this Saturday night in what is his first professional boxing match. The fight will take place in Florida after it was moved when headliner Oscar De La Hoya got sick with COVID-19 and was replaced by Evander Holyfield, who will now fight Vitor Belfort in the main event. Due to Holyfield being 58 years old and coming into the fight on such short notice, the California State Athletic Commission wouldn’t clear the fight to take place there, which necessitated the entire card being moved down to the state of Florida, instead.

Silva takes on Ortiz this Saturday night on the Triller Fight Club card headlined by Evander Holyfield vs. Vitor Belfort. The fight will be contested at a catchweight of 195lbs, meaning Silva will be going up 10lbs from his regular 185lbs weight class in MMA, while Ortiz will be cutting down 10lbs from his normal weight class of 205lbs. Although the Ortiz vs. Silva booking still seems a little bizarre on the surface, it is still a somewhat intriguing matchup between two legends of mixed martial arts, only this time it’s taking place in the ring.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor thanked former middleweight kingpin, Anderson Silva, for his advice on dealing with his broken leg. McGregor broke his leg against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 and he is expected to be out for the next year as he recovers from the broken limb. Silva, of course, famously broke his leg against Chris Weidman at UFC 168 in December 2013. So if there is anyone who knows how to come back from a broken leg in order to have a successful career, it’s Silva.

At UFC 264 in July, McGregor broke his leg at the end of the first round in his highly-anticipated trilogy against Dustin Poirier. It was a disappointing ending to the fight, and it was the second gruesome leg break in a few months as Chris Weidman also had a bad one. But, Silva, who had a terrible broken leg against Weidman offered some advice to the Irishman as he recovers from the injury.

Silva returned to boxing earlier this year when he fought and defeated Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. via split decision in Mexico. He next returns to the ring against Tito Ortiz on September 11, and should he win that fight, there will be lots more opportunities for Silva in the boxing ring. Right now, there are no bigger names in boxing than the Paul brothers, Jake and Logan, and speaking to Submission Radio, Silva praised them for what they are doing.

In the main event of UFC 126 in February 2011, Silva landed one of the most incredible knockouts in MMA history when he landed a front kick to the jaw of Belfort and put him out cold with punches. It was an amazing finish by “The Spider” and for years, Belfort has talked about wanting to have a rematch with his Brazilian rival, but it hasn’t happened yet.

Ortiz will take on Silva in an eight-round professional boxing match on September 11, as part of the Triller fight card that also features Oscar de la Hoya and Vitor Belfort in the main event. Just the announcement of Ortiz fighting Silva alone was surprising, but the fact the fight was booked at 195lbs is even more surprising considering Ortiz is now 46 years old and has never weighed that little in his entire MMA career. In fact, according to Ortiz in an interview with TMZ, he is not happy that Silva has forced him to cut down to 195lbs.

Tito Ortiz reacted to his boxing match with Anderson Silva, saying that “I’ve been working extensively on my boxing over the past 10 years.” Coming out of left field, the Ortiz vs. Silva boxing match was officially announced on Wednesday by Triller. It will take place on September 11 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, and will be a 195lbs professional boxing match set for eight rounds or less. The main event of the card features former UFC champion Vitor Belfort against Oscar de la Hoya. With the addition of Ortiz vs. Silva, this is expected to be one of Triller’s biggest boxing events to date, one that features a number of combat sports legends.
