Jan Blachowicz no longer pursuing a fight against Jon Jones

Adam D Martin - September 9, 2021

UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz admitted that he is no longer pursuing a fight against former divisional kingpin Jon Jones. Blachowicz knocked out Corey Anderson last February at UFC Rio Rancho, and Jones himself was in attendance for that fight. At the time, Jones was the reigning and defending UFC light heavyweight champion, and it was widely expected that he would fight Blachowicz for the belt. However, Jones decided to instead vacate his belt and announce that he was moving up to the UFC heavyweight division, instead. That left the belt vacant and Blachowicz won it when he knocked out Dominick Reyes last year at UFC 253.

Belfort returns to the pro boxing ring for the first time in 15 years when he takes on Holyfield this weekend for Triller Fight Club. Tyron Woodley provides update on “I love Jake Paul” tattoo and potential rematch

Adam D Martin - September 9, 2021

Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley provided an update on the “I love Jake Paul” tattoo and a potential rematch between them. The original bet between Woodley and Paul was that the loser of the fight was supposed to get a tattoo of the other’s name, but Woodley didn’t end up getting the tattoo. Instead, “The Chosen One” told “The Problem Child” following his split decision loss that he would get the tattoo if Paul gave him the rematch. The two shook hands in the ring that night, but so far we haven’t heard of any date for the said rematch between these two men.

Adam D Martin - September 9, 2021

How Hooker landed on Haqparast as his opponent was somewhat surprising, as “The Hangman” was calling out a number of the top-15 lightweights in the promotion before Haqparast was the one who finally got the phone call.

Derek Brunson reacts to reports that Darren Till had a torn ACL at UFC Vegas 36: “I'm used to people trying to minimize my wins”

Adam D Martin - September 9, 2021

Derek Brunson reacted to reports that Darren Till had a torn ACL at UFC Vegas 36, saying “I’m used to people trying to minimize my wins.” Brunson smashed Till this past Saturday night in the main event of UFC Vegas 36 en route to a third-round submission victory. It was Brunson’s fifth straight win inside the Octagon, and it pushed him closer to the top of the UFC middleweight division’s rankings. However, in the wake of his big win over Till, there are now reports emerging that the Brit was injured with a torn ACL heading into the fight. Instead of giving Brunson the credit that he deserves, there are now some fans who are suggesting the dominant win over Till had more to do with his opponent’s pre-existing injury rather than what Brunson did himself.

Burns is coming off of a decision win over Stephen Thompson at UFC 264 and he is currently the No. 2 ranked fighter in the UFC welterweight division. Burns has called out the likes of Leon Edwards and Jorge Masvidal for his next fight, but so far, he hasn’t had anything booked. So, for Erosa, he said the game plan was to not get into a brawl and as the fight started to play out, to then implement his grappling.

Brendan Schaub claims Evander Holyfield required an aide in order to attend charity event seven years ago

Adam D Martin - September 8, 2021

Brendan Schaub claims that boxing legend Evander Holyfield required an aide in order to attend a charity event seven years ago. The 58-year-old Holyfield makes his return to the boxing ring this Saturday night when he takes on former UFC champion Vitor Belfort in the main event of the Triller Fight Club PPV event. The card, which features a co-main event boxing match between MMA legends Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz, was originally set to take place in California, but the event was moved to Florida after the California State Athletic Commission refused to sanction Holyfield to fight. Considering he is 58 years old and stepping up on very short notice to take this fight against a dangerous opponent in Belfort, it’s understandable why California said no. Not to mention that Holyfield hasn’t stepped into the ring in over a decade.

It’s been a hard two years for everyone around the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but according to White, the United States is in really bad shape right now, and he went on a rant in his recent interview with former UFC heavyweight Travis Browne (h/t Jed I. Goodman for quotes).
