UFC women’s featherweight contender Norma Dumont reacted following her career-best victory over Aspen Ladd in the main event of UFC Vegas 40. One of the very few 145lbs women’s featherweights on the UFC roster, Dumont was originally set to face former UFC Holly Holm in this fight. However, Holm was replaced by Ladd on short notice due to injury, and Dumont entered the fight as the underdog against a highly-ranked opponent in Ladd. Despite being the underdog, though, Dumont put on another solid performance as she won a unanimous decision in her first five-round fight. Dumont is now 3-1 overall in the UFC and is proving herself as a legit contender at 145lbs.

Aspen Ladd has issued a statement after suffering a disappointing loss to Norma Dumont in tonight’s UFC Vegas 40 main event. Ladd (9-2 MMA) was actually slated to compete two weeks ago at UFC Vegas 38. However, she was ultimately removed from that fight card after missing weight for her fight against Macy Chiasson at 135lbs. The 26-year-old had most previously competed back in December of 2019, where she earned a third-round TKO victory over Yana Kunitskaya.

The official weigh-ins for UFC Vegas 40 took place on Friday in Las Vegas, and 21 of the 22 fighters scheduled to compete have made weight. Unfortunately, one of the fights was scratched due to non-COVID 19 health issues when Julian Marquez did not weigh-in for his middleweight fight against Jordan Wright. This means that this exciting UFC Vegas 40 fight has been canceled from tomorrow’s event.

Women’s 145lbs fighter Norma Dumont called for an interim featherweight title fight against Holly Holm with a win at UFC Vegas 40. Dumont fights in the main event this weekend against Aspen Ladd in a rare women’s featherweight bout in the UFC. Originally, Dumont was set to take on the former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Holm, but after Holm pulled out with an injury, Ladd stepped up a weight class on short notice to take the fight. Given that the women’s featherweight division is by far the most shallow weight class in the UFC, the winner of Dumont vs. Ladd will surely be close to a title shot against the champion, Amanda Nunes.
