Aljamain Sterling reacts after Dana White finally confirms that he is next for UFC champ Petr Yan

UFC bantamweight contender Aljamain Sterling reacted after UFC president Dana White finally confirmed he’s next in line to fight Petr Yan. When Sterling submitted Cory Sandhagen in the first round back at UFC 250 in June to up his win streak to five straight fights, most fans and media assumed that he would be next in line to fight for the title. But after Yan defeated Jose Aldo at UFC 251 via fifth-round TKO to win the vacant title, White was singing a different tune and was non-committal to giving Sterling his title shot. That led to Sterling taking to Twitter to vent his frustrations.

UFC president Dana White said that when Jon Jones is ready to make the move up to heavyweight he will let the promotion know. Jones announced this week that he was officially vacating the UFC light heavyweight title and making the move up to heavyweight where new challenges await him. Speaking at the UFC on ESPN 15 post-fight press conference, White was asked about Jones’ decision to move up a weight class, and here’s what the UFC bossman said in response.

UFC lightweight contender Dustin Poirier reacted to the news from UFC president Dana White that he is “probably” next for Tony Ferguson. Poirier and Ferguson are both top-five lightweights in the UFC and both men are currently without an opponent for their next fight. Poirier is coming off of a huge win over Dan Hooker back in June in a “Fight of the Year” candidate, while Ferguson is coming off of a TKO loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 249 in a failed bid to become the interim lightweight champion. Despite that loss, Ferguson remains an elite fighter at 155lbs.

UFC bantamweight contender Frankie Edgar provided a health update following his upset win over Pedro Munhoz at UFC on ESPN 15. Edgar was able to edge out a split decision over Munhoz is a closely-contested fight that went the full 25 minutes. Both men were able to land big shots on each other over the course of the five rounds, but when it was all over two of the judges sided with Edgar and gave him the victory over Munhoz in what was his official UFC bantamweight debut.

Former UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones reacted to Ryan Bader’s knockout loss to Vadim Nemkov at Friday night’s Bellator 244 event. Jones was all over the news this week after the surprise announcement that he was vacating the UFC light heavyweight title. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto reported that Amanda Nunes will remain at featherweight to defend her belt against Megan Anderson at UFC 256 on December 12. Additionally, in the main event of a December 5 fight card, Darren Till will return against Jack Hermansson, pending medical clearance on Till’s knee.

Now, in the year 2020, Magny finally gets the chance to fight Lawler on August 29 in Las Vegas, but this time it’s in the Octagon and not just a sparring session.

Edgar began his UFC career in the lightweight division, where he ultimately became the champion by defeating BJ Penn. Several years later, he dropped down to the featherweight division, where he contended for the title multiple times against Jose Aldo and Max Holloway.
