UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman has explained what Colby Covington needs to do to set up a trilogy fight. Last Saturday night at UFC 272, Colby Covington got himself back in the win column with a decision triumph over long-time rival Jorge Masvidal. While he didn’t have things all his own way, Covington was certainly the more dominant fighter out of the two – and his post-fight interview confirmed that he doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.

There’s been a lot of social commentary from UFC fighters over the course of the last few weeks regarding the Russian invasion that’s currently taking place in Ukraine. Unsurprisingly, there are several different viewpoints, with Sean Strickland previously suggesting that Ukrainians should “bend the knee“. Islam Makhachev doesn’t think Conor McGregor deserves a title shot but if he gets it, he doesn’t see it going well for him. After Makhachev reportedly turned down a fight against Rafael dos Anjos at UFC 272, Dana White said he would rebook the fight against Beneil Dariush. With that, many thought it opened up the door for McGregor to get a title shot which Islam doesn’t see happening, but if it does, he doesn’t think it ends well for the Irishman.

Last Saturday night at UFC 272, Jorge Masvidal fell short in his attempt to defeat friend-turned-foe Colby Covington in their Las Vegas main event. While he did have a few nice moments, which included dropping Covington in the fourth round, he wasn’t able to capitalise and ultimately came up on the wrong end of a unanimous decision defeat.

After news came out that Velasquez shot at a man who was recently charged with molesting a close relative of his, the MMA community rallied around the former heavyweight champ. They called for him to be freed from jail and fans started a GoFundMe to help offset the cost for his legal team. At least two legal fund campaigns have been shut down, GoFundMe confirmed citing a violation of terms of service.

Ever since Covington was kicked out of American Top Team, he has taken shots at Poirier, and “The Diamond” has said it’s on sight if he sees him.
