Aljamain Sterling reacts after Henry Cejudo announces he is returning to the UFC bantamweight division

Aljamain Sterling has responded to Henry Cejudo’s return claims and he isn’t exactly buying it. Cejudo retired from pro MMA competition back in May 2020. He announced his retirement following a second-round TKO victory over Dominick Cruz to successfully defend the UFC Bantamweight Championship. “Triple C” made it clear that he’d consider a return for the right price.

UFC Vegas 52 is in the books and while the winners are enjoying the fruits of their labor, the athletes who weren’t successful have some reflecting to do. The event took place this past Saturday night (April 23). It was held inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. Headlining the card was a strawweight tilt between former champion Jessica Andrade and Amanda Lemos. Andrade won the fight via first-round standing arm triangle.

The Octagon remained in Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 52 event, a twelve-bout fight card headlined by Amanda Lemos vs. Jessica Andrade. The highly anticipated strawweight main event resulted in a first round submission victory for the former division champion in Andrade (see that here). Jessica was able to secure a rare standing arm triangle choke in the early moments of the opening round which eventually forced Lemos to tapout.

That news was delivered by the UFC broadcast team during today’s preliminary fights, who said that the bout was called off due to “minor health issue” that left Sherman unable to compete.

While their one and only meeting inside the Octagon came way back in April 2013, the feud between Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen seems to be standing the test of time quite well. They’d always been fairly respectful towards one another but in recent years that relationship has soured, largely due to Sonnen calling out some of the indiscretions Jones has had.

Mike Jackson has opened up on his fight against CM Punk being overturned to a No Contest. Jackson earned a decision win over Punk at UFC 225 in Chicago, but about two months after the fight, he got a letter from the Chicago commission saying he failed his drug test. The news surprised him as he did everything Jeff Novitsky and the UFC told him to, but the only thing that happened was the fight got overturned.

UFC star Aljamain Sterling has revealed Floyd Mayweather tried to ‘steal’ his girlfriend back in 2016 when the pair were out in the same venue. Sterling (21-3 MMA) most recently retained his bantamweight title at UFC 273, defeating Petr Yan (16-3 MMA) by a split decision. It was the second time the two met, the first being at UFC 259 in March of 2021, where Sterling was awarded the title after Yan was disqualified by an illegal knee.
