Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor hopped on social media this afternoon to do a Q&A with fight fans. McGregor is slated to make his return to the Octagon on January 23rd for a rematch with Dustin Poirier at 155lbs. While that bout has yet to be made official, Dana White did tell reporters at yesterday’s UFC Vegas 12 event it was a “done deal“.

Former NFL player turned UFC heavyweight fighter Greg Hardy picked up his seventh career victory at last night’s UFC Vegas 12 event. Hardy (7-2 MMA) squared off with Maurice Greene on the main card of yesterday’s ESPN event. The result was a second round TKO victory for ‘The Prince of War‘, marking his second consecutive win.

Gervonta Davis squared off with Leo Santa Cruz in front of nine thousand fans at San Antonio’s Alamodome yesterday evening. The highly anticipated super-featherweight bout served as the headliner of Saturday’s Showtime PPV event and did not disappoint. Davis and Cruz went back and forth for the first five rounds in a seemingly competitive matchup. However, in round six Gervonta was able to find a home for a wicked left uppercut that sent his Mexican opponent crashing to the canvas in a state of unconsciousness.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor says that he is “interested in running it back” with former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway. McGregor and Holloway fought back at UFC Fight Night 26 in August 2013 when both fighters were relatively new to the UFC. Although he was injured during the fight, McGregor was able to take Holloway down and control him on the mat for a rare grappling-based victory. To put it in perspective, McGregor has landed five takedowns in his UFC career. One of them came against Diego Brandao, and four of them came against Holloway.

UFC legend Jon Jones (26-1 MMA) chased off a suspected robber from his property in Albuquerque with a shotgun in hand. The attempted robbery occurred late Saturday evening and should serve as a future warning not to break into the ‘Bones’ residence.

UFC superstar Conor McGregor called Nate Diaz the toughest fighter he has ever fought against and said he anticipates a trilogy match. McGregor and Diaz previously fought twice in a pair of blockbuster fights in 2016. In March of that year, Diaz earned a massive upset win when he submitted McGregor on short notice at UFC 196. The two rivals ran it back at UFC 202 in August, and this time McGregor got the better of Diaz as he won a majority decision in a war. A trilogy fight between the two has always made sense, but up until now, the UFC has chosen not to pursue that fight.

The opening betting odds were released for the upcoming UFC light heavyweight title fight between champion Jan Blachowicz and Israel Adesanya. UFC president Dana White made the announcement following UFC Vegas 12 that Adesanya will move up to 205lbs in order to challenge Blachowicz for a second belt. Adesanya, the UFC middleweight champion, has expressed interest in the past about moving up in weight. He will now do so sometime in 2021 when he takes on Blachowicz, who will be making his first title defense since winning the vacant title over Dominick Reyes by TKO at UFC 253.

A middleweight matchup between Antonio Carlos Junior and Brad Tavares is the latest addition to January’s UFC 257 pay-per-view card. Junior vs. Tavares will take place on January 23 at UFC 257, a PPV event that is scheduled to be headlined by UFC superstar Conor McGregor against rival Dustin Poirier in a rematch. The news of the matchup was first revealed by Combate’s Raphael Marinho. It should be noted that the UFC previously tried to book Junior vs. Tavares for UFC Brasilia in March of this year, but Tavares was forced to pull out due to an injury.

UFC middleweight Uriah Hall released a statement after KOing his idol Anderson Silva, stating “it was the hardest thing I ever had to do.” Hall picked up arguably the biggest win of his MMA career to date when he knocked out Silva in the fourth round of a back-and-forth main event that headlined UFC Vegas 12. Although Silva looked sharp early on in the fight, Hall remained patient and made the correct adjustments as the fight went on, ultimately scoring a fourth-round KO victory.

UFC president Dana White officially announced the return of The Ultimate Fighter, with the show set to air on ESPN+ in early 2021. White has been actively teasing the return of TUF — the UFC’s flagship reality show that helped bring the sport of mixed martial arts to the mainstream masses in 2005 — but until now, we had few details of what the TUF comeback would look like. Although we still have some unanswered questions about the show’s reincarnation, including who the coaches will be, the UFC shed some light on what TUF’s return would look like following the official announcement of the show’s comeback on the UFC Vegas 12 broadcast.

UFC lightweight Alexander Hernandez was one of four fighters who picked up a $50,000 bonus for their highlight-reel wins at UFC Vegas 12. Although the card didn’t have a lot of name-value on paper aside from the man event between middleweight headliners Uriah Hall and Anderson Silva, it turned out to be a tremendous night of fights. Out of 11 fights that took place at UFC Vegas 12, eight of them ended inside the distance, six of them by knockout, and two of them by submission.

UFC featherweight Bryce Mitchell used his post-fight interview at UFC Vegas 12 to go on a rant against masks, saying they should be optional. Mitchell, one of the most promising young fighters in the UFC featherweight division, picked up a unanimous decision win over Andre Fili at UFC Vegas 12. Mitchell improved to a perfect 14-0 with the win over Fili and he’s now 5-0 since joining the UFC roster a few years ago. Mitchell was the No. 15 ranked featherweight heading into the fight and “Thug Nasty” will surely get a matchup against a ranked opponent following the impressive win over Fili on Saturday night. As far as his talent in the cage goes, there’s no denying it.

UFC middleweight Yoel Romero reacted after champion Israel Adesanya recently suggested that he “ruined” their fight at UFC 248. Adesanya won a unanimous decision over Romero back at UFC 248 in March in one of the most disappointing title fights of the year. Heading into the contest, fans and media were excited about the prospects of the powerful and explosive KO artist Romero going up against the skills of Adesanya. However, the fight turned out to be a total dud as neither man wanted to engage, with Adesanya edging out a lackluster decision for the win.

UFC middleweight contender Kevin Holland called out Mike Perry following his first-round submission win over Charlie Ontiveros on Saturday. Holland picked up his fourth straight win since the UFC restarted following the coronavirus pandemic in May as he finished Ontiveros in the first round. He also holds notably recent victories over Darren Stewart, Joaquin Buckley, and Anthony Hernandez. Overall, Holland is now 7-2 in the UFC since joining the promotion in August 2018. He has quickly become a fan favorite both for his impressive performances inside the cage and his trash talking.

UFC president Dana White discussed where Uriah Hall sits in the UFC middleweight division after his KO win over Anderson Silva on Saturday. Hall picked up the biggest win of his career in the main event of UFC Vegas 12 as he was able to stop Silva in the fourth round with punches after a back-and-forth first three rounds. Despite being 45, Silva looked sharp and fast in the fight as he was able to hang in there for the first three rounds before Hall finally landed the finishing blows in the fourth. The win over Hall gives Silva a three-fight win streak and presumably a top-10 ranking.

UFC lightweight contender Tony Ferguson trolled his rival Khabib Nurmagomedov on Halloween evening by sending him a funny video on Twitter. Ferguson vs. Nurmagomedov is the fight that got away for UFC fans. The promotion tried to book this fight five times in the past but the bout was ‘cursed’ and never came to be. It’s unfortunate because for many years both Ferguson and Nurmagomedov were two of the top lightweights in the sport and this was the fight that everyone wanted to see. But in 2020, it seems like we may have missed the boat on this potential dream matchup as Nurmagomedov recently announced that he is stepping away from the sport of MMA.

UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov sent “absolute legend” Anderson Silva a message following his knockout loss at UFC Vegas 12. Silva was knocked out in the fourth round by Uriah Hall in a back-and-forth fight that marked the official end of Silva’s UFC career. At 45 years old, UFC president Dana White confirmed the world’s leading MMA promotion won’t be offering “The Spider” another fight. There’s a chance that Silva could fully retire from MMA, but at this point, he’s still leaving the door open to a return. But as far as the UFC goes, Silva’s run in the Octagon is over.

The former UFC middleweight kingpin, Silva (34-11 MMA), returned to the Octagon in the headliner of tonight’s UFC Vegas 12 event with hopes of snapping his current two-fight losing skid. Standing in the way of ‘The Spider’ was veteran middleweight Uriah Hall.
