The Irishman apparently had a pre-existing injury coming into the bout, according to his coach John Kavanagh, and whatever it was, it appeared to be re-aggravated during the fight when McGregor’s kick was blocked by Poirier’s elbow. Not long after that, McGregor collapsed and then got finished. Either way, McGregor is expected to be on the sidelines with the injury for the rest of the year, and given how devastating it was, some believe he may be out longer.

Impressively, Eye’s cutman was able to stop the bleeding with vaseline and she was able to make it to the final bell, though she ultimately lost a unanimous decision on the judges’ scorecards. Still, the fact that Eye was able to make it the distance was impressive given that she had a hole in her head for the final two rounds.
