UFC Kansas City: ‘Holloway vs. Allen’ Live Results and Highlights

The Octagon returns to Missouri for tonight’s UFC Kansas City event, a 14-bout fight card headlined by Max Holloway vs. Arnold Allen. Holloway (23-7 MMA) will be returning to action for the first time since suffering a lopsided decision defeat to Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 276 in July of last year. Prior to that setback, ‘Blessed’ was coming off back-to-back unanimous decision victories over Yair Rodriguez and Calvin Kattar respectively.

UFC fighter Johnny Walker has made it known that he’d be interested in welcoming Alex Pereira to the light heavyweight division. Last weekend at UFC 287, Alex Pereira lost his UFC middleweight championship. He was knocked out cold by Israel Adesanya and as a result of that, ‘Poatan’ announced that his next fight will be up at 205 pounds.

UFC commentator Michael Bisping has criticized the matchmaking of Jake Paul vs Nate Diaz in a boxing match. Earlier this week, it was announced that Jake Paul will take on Nate Diaz in a pro boxing match. The contest will take place on August 5 in Dallas, Texas as Paul attempts to rebound from his recent defeat to Tommy Fury.

Max Holloway plans to silence some doubters on Saturday night. Holloway is set to headline UFC Kansas City against Arnold Allen in a pivotal scrap at featherweight. The winner could get a title shot next time out, but Holloway has heard all the talk that he is done and needs to either retire or move up to lightweight.

UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling and Raul Rosas Jr. have squashed the beef. ‘Funk Master’ and ‘El Nino Problema’ have quietly been on bad terms for a while. Following Rosas Jr.’s victory over Jay Perrin in his promotional debut last December, he stated that he felt he could be champion already. Given Sterling’s place atop the division, it’s not surprising he took a bit of offense.

Back in February, Paul and Fury finally settled their differences in a highly-anticipated fight which the Brit won by split decision. After the loss, Paul talked about doing an immediate rematch with Fury but that is no longer the plan.

However, last month in London at UFC 287, the former interim champion made a shocking return. Covington weighed in as the main event’s backup fighter and was cageside for the card.

UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards isn’t worried about losing the gold. ‘Rocky’ has been out of the octagon since his trilogy bout with Kamaru Usman last month. In that outing, Edwards scored his second straight win over ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ by unanimous decision. The British star had famously claimed the title by knockout the prior August.

Jorge Masvidal doesn’t think he received fair treatment from the cops following his alleged altercation with Colby Covington. TMZ Sports was able to obtain court records last which state Masvidal claiming Covington received preferential treatment from cops during their altercation in Miami last year. Masvidal says he has evidence that on several occasions during their altercation that Covington was treated with “favoritism” by the Miami Beach Police Department.

Former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo is deciding to stick at 125 pounds. ‘Deus da Guerra’ has been out of action since his fourth fight with Brandon Moreno in January. Heading into the matchup at UFC 283, the series sat at 1-1-1. Furthermore, the bout was the first time two fighters in the company’s history had clashed on four occasions.

Heading into the contest, it was well-known that Alvey was on thin ice within the promotion. Leading into that fight at UFC Vegas 59, the former middleweight was winless in his eight preceding octagon appearances.
