Belal Muhammad is thinking about moving up to middleweight. Muhammad is currently ranked fourth at welterweight but will not be getting the next title shot, as that will go to Colby Covington. Although he has talked about potentially fighting Kamaru Usman next, if that doesn’t happen, he is pondering a move to 185lbs to face either Khamzat Chimaev or Sean Strickland.

The UFC finally returned to Miami, Florida on Saturday for UFC 287 which saw the middleweight title up for grabs. In the main event, Alex Pereira and Israel Adesanya were having their rematch in MMA while fighting for the fourth time in combat sports. The two fought back in November at UFC 281 with Pereira scoring a fifth-round comeback TKO win to become the new champ. It was also the third time he beat Adesanya in combat sports. The co-main event of UFC 287 saw Gilbert Burns take on Jorge Masvidal.

Max Holloway still thinks he is better than Alexander Volkanovski despite losing all three fights. Holloway and Volkanovski first met at UFC 245 in 2019 as the Aussie was challenging for the Hawaiian’s featherweight title. Holloway entered the fight as the betting favorite but it was Volkanovski who won a decision to become the new champ.

Former UFC title challenger Chael Sonnen appreciates a good heel turn. Israel Adesanya returned to the octagon over the weekend for his rematch with Alex Pereira. In their previous outing last November at UFC 281, ‘The Last Stylebender’ lost his middleweight title by fifth-round knockout. Furthermore, the Brazilian had defeated Adesanya in two prior kickboxing bouts as well.

The card went down over the weekend in Miami, Florida, with Israel Adesanya’s rematch against Alex Pereira in the main event. ‘Poatan’ famously won their first two outings in the kickboxing ring years ago. Last November, the Brazilian defeated ‘The Last Stylebender’ by knockout to claim UFC middleweight gold.

Jorge Masvidal says he wasn’t greased up at UFC 287 and would never cheat despite what Gilbert Burns said. In the co-main event of the pay-per-view card, Masvidal was looking to snap his three-fight losing skid as he took on Burns in a crucial fight. In the end, it was Burns who won a clear-cut decision but what made storylines was after the fight was the Brazilian accusing Masvidal of greasing.

Just days ahead of his return, former UFC champion Max Holloway is making no excuses for his last fight. ‘Blessed’ has been out of the octagon since his co-main event spot against Alexander Volkanovski last July. While the trilogy bout was highly anticipated, Holloway entered the third fight down in the series 0-2. Granted, both of those contests were very close, and many felt the Hawaiian deserved the nod in the second bout.

Du Plessis had of course previously questioned Izzy’s claim of being a real African fighter which Adesanya wasn’t a fan of.
