In the main event of UFC 240, Frankie Edgar has the chance to become a two-division UFC champion. “The Answer” already held the lightweight title from 2010-2012. Since then, the 37-year-old has dropped down to featherweight, and has been chasing gold in the division ever since. At 145 pounds, Edgar has previously fought for the undisputed title and the interim title, both times against the former champ Jose Aldo, and both times losing by decision. Now, he has a chance to capture the belt once again, this time against reigning champ Max Holloway.

Over the last year, there’s been lots of talk about a potential super fight between former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre, and current UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Although St-Pierre is currently retired, he still seems to be interested in the fight. Speaking to TSN recently, the Canadian delved into the matchup itself, explaining how he would try to beat the undefeated Russian if given the chance.

UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones has found himself in hot water once again and Dana White seems to be densensitized to the situation at this point. Jones was recently charged with battery after an alleged incident involving a waitress at a strip club in Albuquerque, New Mexico. “Bones”, along with his team, are maintaining that the light heavyweight champion was not involved in any wrongdoing during the innocent that reportedly took place before Jones’ latest title defense against Thiago Santos at UFC 239.

Two new bouts have been added to the upcoming UFC Vancouver fight card. Louis Smolka will face off against Ryan MacDonald at bantamweight, and Kyle Prepolec is scheduled to fight Austin Hubbard at lightweight.

Khabib Nurmagomedov has earned the top spot on Forbes’ list for the most successful Russian athletes of 2019 (via Tass.Ru). The undefeated Dagestani fighter has risen through the ranks in the UFC and is now the promotion’s lightweight champion. He gained further international notoriety late last year  when he fought Conor McGregor at UFC 229. “The Eagle” submitted his Irish rival in the fourth round.

James Vick is currently on a three-fight losing streak, having recently sandwiched a decision loss to Paul Felder between knockout losses to Justin Gaethje and Dan Hooker. On the heels of these tough setbacks, the 6 ft. 3 lightweight has decided to seek a new start in the 170-pound welterweight division, where his weight cut will hopefully be less taxing. James Vick announced his change on his official Facebook page.

At UFC 205, featherweight champion, Conor McGregor was moving up in weight to take on lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez. It was a symbolic card for a number of reasons given it was the first time the UFC was in Madison Square Garden, and McGregor could become the first champ-champ in promotional history. It ended up being a historic night as the Irishman ended up TKO’ing Alvarez in the second round. McGregor dominated the fight from start to finish and dropped “The Underground King” three times in the fight en route to victory.

Urijah Faber and T.J. Dillashaw have a bitter history, but “The California Kid” isn’t interested in facing his former teammate. Faber is no longer retired and at least for now, that decision is paying off. In his first bout since Dec. 2016, Faber starched Ricky Simon in just 46 seconds. The win earned Faber a spot back on the UFC bantamweight rankings at the 14th position.

Weight cutting continues to cause all kinds of problems in MMA — and not only because it’s dangerous. Fighters often miss their contracted marks, leaving their opponents to with a tough choice: back out of the fight, or accept the fight at a disadvantage. MMA veteran Roxanne Modafferi, who has fought several opponents who have missed weight before, has a simple request of fighters who make this kind of blunder. Just apologize. A simple “sorry,” she says, would go a long way.

Now he’s a viral star, and after getting beat up by a fellow bagel eater in the famous video, Morgan has enlisted the help of UFC stars Al Iaquinta and Chris Weidman to help him train for fights against other viral celebrities. TMZ Sports posted a video of “The Angry Bagel Boss Guy” training MMA alongside Iaquinta, who was showing him the ropes in the boxing department. Weidman was the one doing the filming of the “sparring” session.

Kenny Florian smells an upset in the UFC 240 main event between Max Holloway and Frankie Edgar. Holloway will put his featherweight gold on the line against Edgar this Saturday night (July 27). The action will be held inside Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. While Holloway is the -400 favorite as of now according to 5Dimes, many believe that Edgar is a live underdog.

Former UFC middleweight champion and MMA legend Anderson Silva is now a citizen of the United States of America. Silva gained his citizenship at a Tuesday ceremony in Los Angeles, California, alongside his son and daughter, Kalyl and Kaory. Silva’s wife Dayane and his three other children are still working on obtaining their US citizenship.

Michael Bisping has given his take on the battery allegations against Jon Jones. Jones is facing battery charges following an alleged incident at TD’s Eubank Showroom in Albuquerque, New Mexico back in April. A waitress claims that Jones slapped her “inappropriately” and used force to kiss her neck. She also claims that Jones got her in a chokehold and kept touching her until he decided to leave despite being asked to stop. New details in the allegations emerged yesterday (July 23).

UFC President Dana White recently shared his interest in promoting a boxing match between Amanda Nunes, who holds the UFC featherweight and bantamweight titles, and middleweight boxing champ Claressa Shields. Shields, having heard these comments from White, is all for it. She believes she’d wallop Nunes, but is more than willing to give the Brazilian UFC champion the opportunity.

For those looking for an update on the situation, it looks like nothing is quite set in stone, according to Till’s coach. “The Gorilla” began to receive a strong push in the welterweight division following his first round finish of Donald Cerrone and his decision win over then no. 1 contender Stephen Thompson. Till would get the opportunity to fight Tyron Woodley for the UFC welterweight title at UFC 228 and it proved to be a bit too soon. Woodley would submitted him in the second round of their September scrap.
