Mike Perry sends classy invitation to Vicente Luque from Uruguay hospital

Rising UFC welterweight stars “Platinum” Mike Perry and Vicente Luque went to war in the UFC Uruguay co-main event. After three wild rounds, Luque left the Octagon with a razor close split decision win, while Perry left it with a badly broken nose. Both men pocketed $50,000 Fight of the Night bonuses for their efforts. Post-fight, Perry, whose nose had set up camp under his right eye, was rushed to the hospital for corrective surgery. Since his successful surgery, he’s been busy on social media, commenting on his UFC Uruguay fight, and sending a classy message to his adversary Luque.

Jorge Masvidal and Michael Bisping were both in Montevideo for his past Saturday’s UFC Uruguay card. As recently as a few months ago, would have been a problem. Until very recently, the former UFC middleweight champion and the top welterweight contender were mortal enemies, with Masvidal taking repeated shots at Bisping in interviews and on social media.

Mike Perry took to social media to share a photo of himself in the hospital following his ‘Fight of the Night’ against Vicente Luque at UFC Uruguay. Perry lost a hard-fought split decision and was on the wrong end of a badly broken nose in the fight. Welterweights Vicente Luque and Mike Perry put on a show for the fans in the co-main event of UFC Uruguay, fighting to a razor-thin split decision in Luque’s favor. Both fighters were rewarded a $50,000 bonus for their efforts in the fight. In his post-fight interview with UFC color commentator Michael Bisping, Luque called his shot for his next fight. He said he wants a top-ranked opponent, and specifically mentioned Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson as a potential opponent.

One of the guest fighters at UFC Uruguay was welterweight star Jorge Masivdal, and the American Top Team product once again went after rival Leon Edwards during his media scrum with reporters. ‘Gamebred’ went so far as to say he would ‘murder’ Edwards inside the Octagon when and if they ever do meet. Edwards heard what Masvidal had to say, and the Brit took to Twitter to launch a rant against his arch rival.

The UFC handed out the Fight of the Night award and two Performance of the Night awards for the most exemplary fights at UFC Uruguay. The four bonus winners each took home $50,000 for their efforts. The promotion revealed following the event that Fight of the Night went to welterweights Vicente Luque and Mike Perry for their crazy three-round war in the co-main event. Luque won the fight by split decision in a back-and-forth battle that saw Perry suffer one of the worst broken noses in the history of mixed martial arts. At least Perry will have some extra cash for his troubles to make up for the nasty break he suffered in this fight.

Valentina Shevchenko said she heard the boos of the fans at UFC Uruguay during her main event fight against Liz Carmouche, but she wouldn’t let the groaning fans make her deviate from her gameplan. The UFC women’s flyweight champion spoke at the post-fight press conference following the event and discussed the booing fans, telling those who didn’t enjoy her performance they should watch the fights more carefully.
