More new fights in the works for May 30 UFC card

More fights have been tacked onto the bill for the May 30 card at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. According to a report from MMA Junkie, the card will feature a women’s flyweight bout between recent title challenger Katlyn Chookagian, and Antonina Shevchenko, the sister of the division’s reigning queen Valentina Shevchenko.

UFC light heavyweight contender Anthony Smith says the tooth fairy left him $60 after losing his teeth at UFC Jacksonville. Smith suffered a brutal TKO loss at the hands of Glover Teixeira in the main event of UFC Jacksonville. The fight was extremely controversial as Smith suffered a vicious beating in the third and fourth rounds of the fight, with the judges scoring both rounds 10-8 in favor of Teixeira. At one point late in the fight, Smith could be heard saying that he lost his teeth, and Teixeira could actually be heard apologizing to him for breaking his teeth during the fight.

The former king of the featherweights is currently doing all he can to help his homeland of Hawaii through what is set to be an incredibly difficult financial crisis for them. Following a dominant victory over Maycee Barber at UFC 246, Roxanne Modafferi has been booked for her next fight in the Octagon against Lauren Murphy. Mke Heck of MMAFighting.com reported that Modafferi vs. Murphy will take place at a UFC event scheduled for June 20. According to the report, the UFC hopes to have this event take place at the Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada, but UFC president Dana White admitted this week that the state of Arizona is a realistic possibility if Vegas can’t happen.

The champ also works as a firefighter, and is busy with his duties as a first-responder during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. His gym is also closed, which means committing to a full fight camp is not currently possible.
