Maycee Barber wasn’t surprised when she was offered Miranda Maverick as her next fight. After Maverick beat Gillian Robertson at UFC 260, Barber saw all the posts about how fans wanted to see the fight happen. However, given they are two of the up and comers at flyweight, some thought it didn’t make sense. Yet, for Barber, she says she likes the fight and is eager for it.

UFC women’s flyweight prospect Miranda Maverick reacted after her surprise booking against fellow youngster Maycee Barber for this summer. Late Tuesday night, it was revealed that the UFC plans on having Maverick fight Barber on July 24. The 23-year-old Maverick is the No. 15 ranked fighter in the flyweight division, while the 22-year-old Barber is the No. 14 ranked fighter. Based on the rankings, this fight does make sense. But considering the UFC typically doesn’t like to match up prospect vs. prospect, it was a bit of a surprise to see this fight booked. Remember, Barber is coming off of back-to-back losses to Alexa Grasso and Roxanne Modafferi, so suffering a third straight loss here against Maverick could be detrimental for the future of her UFC career.

Maycee Barber is looking to get back into the win column on July 24. According to ESPN’s Brett Okamoto via UFC president, Dana White, Barber is set to fight top prospect and 15th-ranked flyweight, Miranda Maverick.

Alexa Grasso picked up one of the biggest wins of her career as she beat Maycee Barber at UFC 258. Entering the fight, all the hype was around Barber making her return. However, as Grasso was quietly going about her business, in the co-main event, she proved to everyone just how good she is.

UFC women’s flyweight veteran Roxanne Modafferi threw her support behind Maycee Barber following her second straight loss to Alexa Grasso. Barber was on her way to the top of the UFC 125lbs division when she suffered a one-sided unanimous decision loss to Modafferi last January at UFC 246 in a fight where she also injured her knee. After missing a year of action, Barber was back in the cage at UFC 258 when she took on Grasso in the co-main event. Unfortunately for Barber, it was her second straight loss as she was outboxed and dropped a unanimous decision. After winning her first eight career fights, Barber now finds herself on a two-fight losing skid.

Maycee Barber’s return to the Octagon did not go her way. In the co-main event of UFC 258, Barber fought Alexa Grasso in her first fight since she lost to Roxanne Modafferi at UFC 246 in a fight she also tore her ACL. Entering the scrap, Barber didn’t think ring rust would be a factor but admits she had a hard time finding her timing in the first two rounds.

Barber (8-2 MMA) had entered last night’s co-headliner in hopes of rebounding from her first career loss as a professional. ‘The Future’ was coming off a unanimous decision setback to veteran Roxanne Modafferi in her most previous effort at UFC 246.

Barber (8-2 MMA) had entered tonight’s co-main event in hopes of rebounding from her first career loss as a professional. ‘The Future’ had suffered a unanimous decision setback to veteran Roxanne Modafferi in her most previous effort at UFC 246. Prior to the loss, Maycee had gone a perfect 8-0 in her young career, which included three stoppage wins under the UFC banner.

Maycee Barber plans to remind the world just how good she is. In the co-main event of UFC 258, Barber is set to return after her first career loss and a torn ACL to battle Alexa Grasso. It’s a very intriguing matchup but many fans are surprised this is the fight because both Barber and Grasso are two up and comer prospects.

Maycee Barber’s 2020 did not go the way she envisioned. In January at UFC 246, Barber was looking to improve to 9-0 when she took on Roxanne Modafferi. The goal for the 22-year-old was to beat Modafferi, get another win in the summer and fight for the belt at year’s end. Unfortunately for her, she lost the fight by decision and tore her ACL which has kept her out of action for the remainder of the year.

Maycee Barber is set to return to the Octagon on February 13. According to Mexican outlet, Milenio.com, Barber is set to face Alexa Grasso at a Fight Night event on February 13. It is currently unknown if the event will take place in Las Vegas or on Fight Island.

While the injury was unfortunate, Barber’s father Bucky Barber believes that his daughter showed a lot of heart in the fight and, because of her grit and toughness — along with the injury early in the fight — questions whether or not Saturday night’s fight should be considered a loss.
