It was just this past Saturday, June 10th, that saw Miranda ‘Fear The’ Maverick (11-5 MMA) get in the cage with Jasmine Jasudavicius (9-2 MMA) in a flyweight bout. The ultimate result was a unanimous decision win for the 34-year-old Jasudavicius.

In one of the most controversial decisions of the year, the judges awarded Maycee Barber a split decision win over Maverick following their main card battle at UFC Vegas 32. Most fans and media thought that Maverick had done enough to win the first two rounds of the fight and therefore take home a 29-28 decision on the scorecards after Barber won the last round. But somehow, two of the three judges scoring the fight sided with Barber instead.

It was a competitive fight, but most onlookers felt that Maverick had done enough to win the first two rounds and earn a 29-28 decision victory after Barber won the third. However, two of the three judges felt that Barber won the second round, and the judges ended up scoring the fight for Barber by way of a split decision. It was an extremely controversial scorecard, with fans and media going up in arms over the scorecards.

It appeared as though Maverick had done enough to win the first two rounds of the fight and take home a 29-28 decision on the judges’ scorecards, but somehow two of the three judges gave the fight to Barber. It’s worth noting that at MMADecisions.com, literally, every media member who was tracked scored the fight for Maverick. In the comments section, fans are calling it a robbery.

UFC women’s flyweight prospect Miranda Maverick reacted after her surprise booking against fellow youngster Maycee Barber for this summer. Late Tuesday night, it was revealed that the UFC plans on having Maverick fight Barber on July 24. The 23-year-old Maverick is the No. 15 ranked fighter in the flyweight division, while the 22-year-old Barber is the No. 14 ranked fighter. Based on the rankings, this fight does make sense. But considering the UFC typically doesn’t like to match up prospect vs. prospect, it was a bit of a surprise to see this fight booked. Remember, Barber is coming off of back-to-back losses to Alexa Grasso and Roxanne Modafferi, so suffering a third straight loss here against Maverick could be detrimental for the future of her UFC career.
