Holloway put on an epic showing at UFC on ABC 1 when he beat down Calvin Kattar for five rounds. Now, the Hawaiian is hoping to make a quick return to the Octagon. After his incredible performance, “Blessed” said that, if anything happens to Conor McGregor or Dustin Poirier at UFC 257 next weekend, he wants to step in and fight. UFC president Dana White believes Max Holloway deserves to have a trilogy fight for the featherweight title against Alexander Volkanovski. Holloway had an epic performance on Saturday night at UFC on ABC 1 as he brutally beat down Calvin Kattar for five rounds in the main event of the evening. As one of the greatest featherweights of all time, we’ve seen Holloway put on some incredible performances over the years. But the way he systematically broke down Kattar over the course of 25 minutes was special. It’s the kind of win that makes you want to see Holloway fight for the belt.

Former UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway roasted rival Calvin Kattar over the previous comment he made calling him a “freshman.” Holloway put on a historic beating against Kattar in the main event of Saturday’s UFC on ABC 1. Holloway shattered the previous record for significant strikes landed in a fight as he absolutely took it to Kattar for 25 minutes. At the end of five rounds, Holloway took home the unanimous decision as he re-emerged as perhaps the featherweight division’s premier fighter. UFC president Dana White confirmed that the winner of Saturday’s main event between Max Holloway and Calvin Kattar could earn a title shot. Holloway and Kattar meet in the five-round headliner of UFC on ABC 1 in a battle between the No. 1 and No. 6 ranked fighters, respectively, at 145lbs. UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski is set to take on Brian Ortega in his next title defense, but there are plenty of other contenders hot on his trails. According to White, both Holloway and Kattar will have the opportunity to earn the No. 1 contender spot in the featherweight division with a big win on Saturday.

Many people feel that Holloway is the uncrowned champ right now, but it was a hard sell for the UFC to book a trilogy fight this soon.
