Frankie Edgar reveals he has just one fight left on his current UFC contract

Harry Kettle - January 30, 2020

UFC veteran and former champion Frankie Edgar has revealed that he has just one fight remaining on his current UFC contract. Edgar, who many consider to be a legend in the world of mixed martial arts, is coming off the back of consecutive losses at the hands of Max Holloway and Chan Sung Jung AKA The Korean Zombie. The expectation was that he would be moving down to bantamweight to face Cory Sandhagen, but the injuries he sustained against The Korean Zombie ensured that wasn’t going to happen.

The Korean Zombie predicts quick finish in potential title fight with Alex Volkanovski

Harry Kettle - January 8, 2020

Chan Sung Jung, aka The Korean Zombie, has predicted a quick finish if he is to ever face Alexander Volkanovski for the UFC Featherweight Championship. The Korean Zombie is coming off the back of a memorable finish over Frankie Edgar which cemented his spot as one of the top guys in the division. Alas, while that may be the case, the presence of Zabit Magomedsharipov and Max Holloway has caused some doubt as to whether or not he will be the man to get the next shot at the belt.

UFC Busan medical suspensions: Frankie Edgar facing lengthy absence

Tom Taylor - December 23, 2019

Frankie Edgar took a gamble by taking a short-notice fight with “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung in the UFC Busan main event, but it did not pay off. Instead, Edgar was finished in the first round, and has received a significant medical suspension as a result. This suspension rules out any possibility that he’ll be able to fight Cory Sandhagen at UFC Raleigh in January as originally planned. Because the UFC Busan card occurred outside the jurisdiction of a combat sports commission, the UFC handled medical suspension internally. The promotion’s medical suspensions have been acquired by mixedmartialarts.com, and can be viewed in full below.

‘The Korean Zombie’ picked up arguably the biggest win of his career today at UFC Busan, stopping former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar in the very first round. Soon after, ‘TKZ’ would drop ‘The Answer’ with a combination and immediately proceeded to take his back. Edgar would scramble free, but was ultimately dropped again and this time was put away by ground and pound strikes (see that here).

Frankie Edgar explains why he didn't drop down in weight sooner

Tom Taylor - December 19, 2019

Frankie Edgar initially planned to drop down to bantamweight to fight Cory Sandhagen at UFC Raleigh on January 25, but postponed this plan to take a short-notice featherweight fight with “The Korean Zombie” Chan Sung Jung this very weekend at UFC Busan. While The Korean Zombie is currently at the forefront of Edgar’s mind, he does still intend to drop down to the 135-pound bantamweight division. This news will come as a relief to many of his fans, who have long felt he’s too small for the featherweight division, and most certainly the lightweight division, where he previously held a UFC title.

Aljamain Sterling on Aldo, Edgar's bantamweight moves: 'It doesn’t make a ton of sense'

Tom Taylor - December 2, 2019

Former UFC lightweight champ Frankie Edgar and former UFC featherweight champ Jose Aldo will both soon debut in the bantamweight division. Top bantamweight contender Aljamain Sterling isn’t sure how these two decorated former champs will perform in this lighter weight class. “Two belts in two different weight classes would be historic, but they’re old in fight years, they’re older in age, and they’re fighting guys who are almost a decade younger than them – so it’s going to be very interesting to see how they do,” Sterling said on UFC Unfiltered recently (via MMA Junkie). “I’m not wishing them any type of ill will, but at the same time, I just wish they hug each other for 15 minutes and have boring fights.
