Tom Aspinall responds to callout from UFC 299 winner Curtis Blaydes

Interim UFC Heavyweight Champion Tom Aspinall has given an emphatic response to Curtis Blaydes’ recent challenge. Blaydes was in action in the featured UFC 299 preliminary bout. He took on Jailton Almeida , and things went awry for the Brazilian in the second round. When Almeida went for a takedown, Blaydes rained down punches to knock his opponent out.

Jailton Almeida is glad he got rebooked against Curtis Blaydes but is disappointed the fight is only three rounds. Almeida and Blaydes were supposed to headline UFC Sao Paulo last November, but an injury to the American knocked him out of the fight. Almeida went on to dominate Derrick Lewis and then got rebooked against Blaydes at UFC 299 in Miami, which he was happy about. However, the Brazilian wishes it was five rounds as he feels like a twenty-five-minute contest favored him.

Curtis Blaydes says he plans to fight like Justin Gaethje at UFC 299 on Saturday. Blaydes is set to take on Jailton Almeida in a pivotal heavyweight bout in Miami. The two were supposed to fight last November, but an injury to Blaydes forced him to withdraw from the bout. Almeida went on to beat Derrick Lewis by a one-sided decision and the two are now rebooked to collide at UFC 299.

UFC 299 has gotten a big boost in the form of Jailton Almeida vs. Curtis Blaydes, as well as several other fight announcements. The card is currently slated for next March and will be held in Miami. In the main event, Sean O’Malley will return to the octagon to defend his bantamweight gold against Marlon Vera. The bout is a rematch of their prior encounter in 2020, which saw ‘Chito’ win by first-round stoppage.

Curtis Blaydes has opened up on his decision to withdraw from the UFC Sao Paulo main event against Jailton Almeida. On Monday it was revealed that Blaydes withdrew from his Nov. 4 main event and was replaced by Derrick Lewis. At the time, it wasn’t revealed what happened to Blaydes, but it has since been reported he suffered an ankle injury.

On Monday, it was reported that Curtis Blaydes was out of his scheduled main event fight against Jailton Almeida at UFC Sao Paulo due to injury. However, Ag.Fight revealed that Derrick Lewis has agreed to step up to face the Brazilian in the main event spot on Nov. 4 at the Ibirapuera Gymnasium in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

In the main event of UFC Vegas 71, a battle of top-five heavyweights went down as Sergei Pavlovich took on Curtis Blaydes. Pavlovich was riding a five-fight win streak and was coming off a 54-second TKO win over Tai Tuivasa. Prior to that, he picked up a 55-second TKO win over Derrick Lewis and also knocked out Shamil Abdurakhimov in the first round. Blaydes, meanwhile, was on a three-fight win streak as he had previously beat Tom Aspinall after the Brit tore his knee just seconds into the fight.

The Octagon returned to Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 71 event, an eleven-bout fight card headlined by Sergei Pavlovich vs. Curtis Blaydes. Tonight’s highly anticipated heavyweight main event did not make it out of the opening round. Sergei Pavlovich was aggressive right from the get-go, but Curtis Blaydes was doing a good job early with his counter punches. However, the Russian knockout artist eventually found a home for some of his big shots and sent ‘Razor’ crashing to the canvas from an uppercut. From there, Pavlovich used some ground and pound to put Blaydes away for good.
