UFC 299 Results: Curtis Blaydes stops Jailton Almeida (Video)

Almeida (20-2 MMA) will enter the contest sporting a fifteen-fight win streak, his most recent being a unanimous decision victory over Derrick Lewis this past November. ‘Malhadinho’ has gone a perfect 6-0 since joining the UFC ranks, scoring stoppages in five of those six wins.
Meanwhile, Curtis Blaydes (17-4 MMA) will be looking to rebound, this after suffering a TKO loss to Sergei Pavlovich in his most previous effort last April. Prior to that setback, ‘Razor’ was on a three-fight win streak, which included TKO victories over Chris Daukaus and Tom Aspinall.
Round one of this heavyweight matchup begins and Jailton Almeida quickly takes the center of the Octagon. He shoots in for a takedown, but Curtis Blaydes is able to sprawl and keep the fight standing for now. Almeida scores a trip and looks to take the back of ‘Razor’. The Chicago native scrambles up to his feet but is immediately dragged back down to the canvas. Blaydes gets back to his feet but is quickly tripped back down to the floor. Almeida is looking to transition to the back as Curtis gets back up to his feet. He gives up on back position and opts to trip Blaydes back down to the canvas. The crowd is not loving this, but it is impressive to see Jailton Almeida dominating Curtis Blaydes in the grappling department. Just over one-minute remains in the opening frame. Blaydes gets back to his feet, but Almeida is still draped all over him. The Brazilian slams Blaydes back down and move to his back. Curtis scrambles up to his feet and the horn sounds to end round one.
Round two of the UFC 299 featured prelim begins and Jailton Almeida comes forward with a big overhand right. Curtis Blaydes with a jab. Almeida shoots in but gets caught with some nasty elbows and hammer fists. ‘Razor’ continues to unload and this one is all over! WOW!
