Cody Brundage wanted to fight Bo Nickal and he was hoping he’d get the fight at UFC 300. Brundage is on a two-fight winning streak and after his last win, he thought it made sense for him to be Nickal’s next opponent. To no surprise, when his coach called with a fight offer, it was Nickal at UFC 300 which he jumped at.

UFC middleweight contender Cody Brundage doesn’t get the insane hype around Bo Nickal. The 29-year-old hasn’t competed since a slam knockout victory over Zachary Reese in December. That win was Cody Brundage’s second in a row, previously earning a disqualification victory over Jacob Malkoun in September. That two-fight winning streak was seemingly enough for him to get a crack at the much-hyped Bo Nickal.

Play-by-play ace Jon Anik is not opposed to Bo Nickal getting the main card rub for UFC 300. The biggest MMA event of 2024 is upon us. On April 13, UFC 300 will emanate from the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card is stacked from the first preliminary fight all the way to the main event. In the main event, light heavyweight titleholder Alex Pereira will put his gold at stake against Jamahal Hill, who was never beaten for the gold but had to relinquish it due to an injury. Women’s strawweight champion Zhang Weili defends her title against Yan Xiaonan. We’ll also see Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway for the symbolic BMF Championship, and Charles Oliveira vs. Arman Tsarukyan.

Last year, Bo Nickal fought twice in the octagon, with both fights coming on pay-per-view main cards. For what it’s worth, he defeated both Jamie Pickett and newcomer Val Woodburn inside of one round.

At UFC 300, he faces his biggest test yet when he goes head to head with Cody Brundage. The expectation is that he’ll pick up the win, but the pressure is still on the 28-year-old to ensure he does so in spectacular fashion.

The fight was set to be Khamzat Chimaev’s first in over a year, submitting Kevin Holland last September. However, as many fans are likely aware, the Brazilian was forced out of action due to an elbow injury.

The promotion ended up settling on Val Woodburn, but Michael Chiesa claims he had previously spoke to the UFC about stepping up on short notice to fight Nickal and the making a quick turnaround to compete this weekend against Holland.

Bo Nickal expects that he and Dricus Du Plessis will fight in the future. At UFC 290, Nickal and Du Plessis both picked up big wins. However, Nickal is just 2-0 in the UFC and Du Plessis is set to fight for the belt next, so they are far apart in the rankings. Despite that, Bo Nickal says he was watching Dricus Du Plessis vs. Robert Whittaker closely as he thinks he will face the South African in the future and calls the fight “easy money”.
