Alexander Volkov criticizes Jailton Almeida's game plan during UFC 321 fight

Alexander Volkov believes Jailton Almeida is approaching his fights the wrong way following their UFC 321 bout. Volkov and Almeida shared the Octagon inside Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi this past Saturday. The bout went all three rounds and there was a split verdict. Volkov ended up securing the split decision victory.

Dana White thinks the judges got it right in terms of one crucial UFC 321 bout. Featured on the main card of UFC 321 was a heavyweight clash between Alexander Volkov and Jailton Almeida. The bout saw Almeida score takedowns, but he limited his activity while in top control. The bout went the distance, and two of the three judges scored it for Volkov.

Since then, however, he has been on the sidelines with no fight being booked, leaving interim champ Tom Aspinall waiting.

Alexander Volkov and Sergei Pavlovich aren’t likely to be chummy again, or at least not for quite some time. Volkov and Pavlovich were once sparring partners, but the two have had a falling out. They ended up fighting one another on the UFC Saudi Arabia card this past Saturday. Volkov was effective in maintaining his distance, making it difficult for Pavlovich to land anything substantial. Tai Tuivasa will be getting a hometown fight. According to MMAJunkie, Tuivasa is set to return to the Octagon at UFC 293 in Sydney, Australia against Alexander Volkov. The fight has been signed, according to the report. UFC 293 goes down on Sept. 9 at Qudos Bank Arena in Sydney. The headliner for the event is not yet official, but the hope is Israel Adesanya will defend his belt in the main event.
