The Octagon returns to Louisiana for tonight’s UFC 318 event, a 14-bout fight card headlined by Dustin Poirier vs. Max Holloway 3. Poirier (30-9 MMA), a former UFC interim lightweight champion, will be competing for the final time this evening in his home state. ‘The Diamond’ was most previously seen in action 13 months ago at UFC 302, where he suffered a submission loss to Islam Makhachev. The 36-year-old has faced Holloway twice in the past, winning both of those fights, the first by submission and the second by unanimous decision.

After their final face-off, Max Holloway declared that he is ready to play the role of spoiler against Dustin Poirier tonight. On Saturday in New Orleans, Max Holloway will defend the BMF championship against Dustin Poirier in the main event of UFC 318. The two men will lock horns in Poirier’s home state of Louisiana, in what will serve as his last ever professional fight in mixed martial arts. It’s been an incredible run for ‘The Diamond’ but now, he’s ready to ride off into the sunset once and for all.

He’s also picked up wins over notable opponents, including Tony Ferguson and even Dustin Poirier, with the latter headlining UFC 318 at the weekend.

Freire didn’t look like the same fighter that tore through the Bellator featherweight division.

Don’t expect Max Holloway to be perturbed if Paddy Pimblett skips the line to receive a UFC lightweight title opportunity. Following Ilia Topuria’s knockout victory over Charles Oliveira to lay claim to the 155-pound gold, Pimblett entered the Octagon and had an intense staredown with “El Matador.” Topuria shoved “The Baddy” and it appeared the UFC had its next lightweight title fight on a silver platter.
