New UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz believes Jon Jones left the division to avoid a taste of his “Legendary Polish Power.” Jones ruled over the UFC light heavyweight division for many years, but vacated the throne earlier this year as part of a plan to move up to the heavyweight division in search of new challenges. Not long thereafter, Blachowicz took on Dominick Reyes for the vacant belt. The Polish fighter won that title fight by second-round knockout, showcasing his knockout power once again.
Marlon Moraes feels Cory Sandhagen stoppage was "a little early"

Marlon Moraes feels his TKO loss to Cory Sandhagen, which headlined Saturday’s UFC Fight Island 5 card, was “probably a little early.” Sandhagen put Moraes down with a spinning kick in the bout’s second round. Moraes, however, feels that the fight was going in his favor until that decisive moment, and that that the referee’s intervention might have been a tad premature.

Israel Adesanya’s relentless Twitter assault on Jon Jones shows no signs of slowing down as the middleweight king continues to mock his rival. Ever since he dispatched of Paulo Costa in dominant fashion, “The Last Stylebender” has set his sights on what now appears to be an inevitable superfight against Jon Jones. The veteran doesn’t seem to think that Adesanya really wants to fight him but right now, it does appear to be the direction that things are trending in.

Mike Perry (14-6 MMA) is determined to get his fists on Darren Till even if it means moving up to the UFC’s middleweight division. Perry and Till have had a rather complicated relationship during their time with the UFC. Initially the pair began as rivals in the promotions welterweight division where they seemed destined to collide inside the Octagon. However, after that proposed contest failed to come to fruition, Mike Perry and Darren Till appeared to form a friendship and even began sparring together.
Roxanne Modafferi vs. Viviane Araujo set for January 2021 UFC event

An important women’s flyweight bout between Roxanne Modafferi and Viviane Araujo is being targeted to take place in early 2021. Eric Kowal of MyMMANews.com was the first to break the news of the Modafferi vs. Araujo matchup, noting that it is targeted to take place at a UFC event on January 30, 2021. No other details for that upcoming event have been revealed thus far.

After suffering a brutal KO loss to Kevin Holland in his own debut inside the Octagon, it was an incredible comeback performance by Buckley as he put the entire MMA world on notice with his KO win.

Moraes was the No. 1 contender in the UFC bantamweight division heading into this fight but he suffered a brutal loss when Sandhagen wiped him out with a spinning wheel kick and punches. The loss will drop Moraes in the rankings behind Sandhagen and Aljamain Sterling and it puts him further from a fight against UFC bantamweight champion Pet Yan.

Referee Marc Goddard praised middleweight Impa Kasanganay for his positive attitude following a brutal KO loss to Joaquin Buckley. Kasanganay was on the wrong end of one of the greatest highlight-reel knockouts in UFC history when Buckley finished him with a spinning back kick in their preliminary card bout at UFC Fight Island 5. Buckley was able to land the kick with his right leg after Kasanganay had caught a kick with his left leg, leading to an incredible, one-of-a-kind KO. The knockout video has gone viral and Buckley was given a $50,000 bonus for his efforts.

Henry Cejudo and Aljamain Sterling traded shots on Twitter after Cejudo said Sterling would get passed over for a bantamweight title shot. In the main event of UFC Fight Island 5, Cory Sandhagen knocked out No. 1 ranked Marlon Moraes with a spinning wheel kick and punches to re-emerge as one of the best bantamweights in the division. Sandhagen, of course, suffered a first-round submission loss to Sterling in his last fight at UFC 250 back in June. But in MMA, the sport is all about what have you done lately, and Sandhagen’s win puts him right back into title contention.

UFC featherweight contender Edson Barboza says he is open to a trilogy fight with top lightweight Paul Felder in the near future. Barboza defeated Makwan Amirkhani via unanimous decision in the co-main event of UFC Fight Island 5 to snap a three-fight losing skid. One of those losses came against Felder when Barboza dropped a highly-controversial split decision to his rival at UFC 242. Barboza and Felder previously met at UFC on FOX: Dillashaw vs. Barao 2 in 2015, so the pair are 1-1 against each other, and both have spoken about a potential trilogy fight in the past.

Kasanganay is a top prospect from Dana White’s Contender Series and after beating Maki Pitolo in his UFC debut this summer in Vegas, much was expected of him coming into this bout against Buckley. With Buckley coming off of a brutal KO loss to Kevin Holland in his own UFC debut, the oddsmakers pegged Kasanganay as a huge betting favorite here.

The KO came out of nowhere and it’s even more impressive to consider when you remember that Buckley himself was on the wrong end of a ridiculous KO from Kevin Holland in the summer.
