Former UFC champion Jon Jones explained why he’s “so glad” that Glover Teixeira defeated Thiago Santos in the main event of UFC Vegas 13. Jones, of course, previously fought both Teixeira and Santos. “Bones” defeated Teixeira at UFC 172 in 2014 via unanimous decision back when he was in his prime, and he later beat Santos via split decision at UFC 239 in a razor-thin fight. So if anyone knows a thing or two about how Teixeira and Santos operate inside the Octagon cage, it’s Jones.

UFC light heavyweight contender Glover Teixeira pleaded with UFC president Dana White to get the next title shot at 205lbs. At UFC Vegas 13, Teixeira defeated top contender Thiago Santos via third-round submission in a back-and-forth war that won “Fight of the Night” honors. It’s the fifth straight win for Teixeira, who figures to take Santos’ spot at the top contender in the division. But it still might not be enough to earn him the next title shot against UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz instead of middleweight champ Israel Adesanya.

UFC legend Jon Jones has reacted to the news that Israel Adesanya will be moving up to light heavyweight to challenge Jan Blachowicz. Following UFC Vegas 12, Dana White had announced that Adesanya would be moving up in weight to take on Blachowicz in 2021 and attempt to become a two-division champion. Adesanya is already the UFC’s middleweight champion and he will be looking to join the exclusive club of two-weight champs in UFC history. Of course, the timing here is interesting as Adesanya announced his move up in weight only after Jones left the 205lbs division.

UFC welterweight Demian Maia has responded to a recent callout from fellow veteran Diego Sanchez, saying that he accepts the matchup with him. Maia and Sanchez are two of the longest-tenured fighters in the UFC and both don’t have many fights left in their careers, so they have to make them count. Maia has indicated recently that his next fight is likely going to be his last after a 14-year UFC career that began in 2007. As for Sanchez, he’s heading into his 16th year with the world’s leading MMA promotion. For comparison, Maia turned 43 years old on Friday while Sanchez is 38.

Before Chimaev was booked to fight Leon Edwards at welterweight, he said he was having a tough time getting an opponent.
