UFC Vegas 14 weigh-in results: One fight scrapped, three fighters miss weight

On Saturday night, the UFC will return to our screens with the under-the-radar UFC Vegas 14 card out of the promotion’s Apex facility. The card was originally expected to be headlined by a lightweight showdown between Rafael dos Anjos and Islam Makhachev. When Makhachev was forced off the bill with a staph infection, however, No. 7-ranked lightweight contender Paul Felder stepped in to replace him on just five days’ notice. Felder will now meet dos Anjos in a five-round lightweight fight in the card’s main event.
UFC begins roster purge by releasing three fighters including John Phillips

The UFC has begun its expected roster purge by releasing three fighters from the promotion, including middleweight John Phillips. Phillips himself took to his social media on Friday to thank the UFC for the “memories that will last a lifetime.” Check out the message that Phillips shared on his Twitter.
Joanna Jedrzejczyk back to training to American Top Team

Former UFC strawweight champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk has returned to American Top Team, her training home in South Florida. Jedrzejczyk has spent most of 2020 in her native Poland due to the coronavirus pandemic and the travel restrictions it has created. This week, however, the former champion made a triumphant return to American Top Team.
Fabricio Werdum says Bellator negotiations have stalled, now wants to fight for PFL

Former UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum is now eyeing a spot on the PFL roster after negotiations with Bellator MMA fizzled out. Werdum, who parted ways with the UFC earlier this year, has recently been linked to a rematch with fellow heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko after the Bellator MMA banner.

Johnson made the transition over to ONE from the Ultimate Fighting Championship in late 2018 with Ben Askren heading in the opposite direction, and ever since then, he’s been able to go 3-0 in the promotion – with all three of those wins coming in the 2019 Flyweight Grand Prix.

UFC middleweight Jack Hermansson believes that the ground game is the key to beating Kevin Holland when the two clash later this year. Hermansson was originally scheduled to fight Darren Till on December 5 at a UFC Fight Night event in Las Vegas, but Till withdrew due to injury and was replaced by Holland. Hermansson is a top-five fighter but decided to accept the fight against an unranked opponent. On paper, this looks like a great fight for the fans even if Holland isn’t ranked just because of what could happen if the fight between these two hits the ground.

Carlos Condit vs. Matt Brown booked for UFC Fight Night event in January

An exciting fight between veteran welterweights Carlos Condit and Matt Brown has been booked for a UFC Fight Night event in January. Condit and Brown were previously scheduled to fight twice but Brown was forced to withdraw both times with injuries. The first time these two were scheduled to fight was way back in December 2013 at UFC on FOX 9, and the second time was at UFC on FOX 29 in April 2018. The UFC will hope that the third time is the charm for these two.
