Coach Jim West issued a statement following his corner advice to Aspen Ladd in her UFC Vegas 40 main event loss on Saturday night. West is Ladd’s head coach at MMA GOLD as well as her boyfriend and longtime partner. During Saturday’s main event fight featuring Ladd and Norma Dumont, West’s coaching tactics in-between rounds were met with criticism. The coach appeared to be visibly upset with his fighter and he had to raise his voice in order to get her attention. There were fans, media, and fellow fighters who took to social media and criticized West for his coaching advice. Even UFC commentator Michael Bisping was not a fan of his corner advice.

Former UFC fighter Michael Graves threatened a reporter, which prompted his former employer to issue a statement regarding the incident. Graves got into an argument with MMA reporter Amy Kaplan in her DMs, where he used derogatory language to describe the media. Kaplan then took the screenshots public.

UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya mocked Marvin Vettori following the criticism of his performance and win at UFC 263. Vettori recently had some choice words to say about the champ, suggesting that he isn’t actually that much of a better fighter, only that he fought a “smart” fight at UFC 263. Of course, this was the second time that Adesanya has defeated Vettori. The two previously met in 2018 with Adesanya winning a split decision. After Vettori went on a roll, the rematch took place this year, only Adesanya proved he’s the better man with another win.

Boxing analyst Teddy Atlas shared his thoughts on a potential Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou super fight in the boxing ring. Atlas is a boxing legend in his own right but he has moved more into the world of MMA analysis as well in recent years. Speaking to Submission Radio in a recent interview, Atlas was asked what he thinks about a potential fight between the top heavyweight boxer in Fury and MMA’s top heavyweight in Ngannou. As far as Atlas goes, while he has respect for Ngannou, he believes that it would be Fury getting his hand raised in a boxing match.

UFC heavyweight champion Francis Ngannou shared two “dream opponents” that he would have enjoyed fighting in their prime. Ngannou (16-3 MMA) is set to defend his belt against current interim title holder Ciryl Gane at UFC 270 in January. Ahead of his highly anticipated showdown with the undefeated Frenchman, ‘The Predator’ made an appearance on Jeff’s Barbershop where he was asked if there were any heavyweight legends he wished he could have faced in their prime.

The Octagon remained in Nevada for today’s UFC Vegas 40 event, a ten-bout fight card headlined by featherweights Aspen Ladd and Norma Dumont. The main event proved to be a rather uneventful affair. Norma Dumont seemingly won the opening three rounds of the fight by utilizing her jab. Aspen Ladd would eventually get things going in the late stages of round four, but her last ditch effort was not enough to sway any of the judges in attendance.

Deiveson Figueiredo will be very happy to take the head off Brandon Moreno in their upcoming trilogy, this after the Mexican allegedly betrayed Henry Cejudo. Figueiredo (20-2-1 MMA) and Moreno (19-5-2 MMA) are set to collide for a third time at UFC 270 on January 22. The pair initially met in December of 2020 at UFC 256, where after five rounds of thrilling action their fight was ruled a majority draw.

Demetrious Johnson had a recent run-in with TJ Dillashaw and questioned the former UFC bantamweight champion why he took EPO. Johnson (30-4-1 MMA) and Dillashaw (17-4 MMA) appeared to be on a collision course back in 2017. ‘Mighty Mouse’ was dominating the 125lbs ranks and ‘Killashaw’ had established himself as the reigning bantamweight king.
