Johnny Walker fires back at critics of Thiago Santos fight: "People that called it boring are the ones that sit on the couch to drink beer"

Adam D Martin - October 25, 2021

Johnny Walker fired back at critics of the Thiago Santos fight, saying his critics are the “ones that sit on the couch to drink beer.” Walker and Santos met earlier this month in the main event of UFC Vegas 38. In a light heavyweight battle between two knockout artists, fans were expecting both men to go for broke and for someone to get brutally knocked out. But the fight was anything but, as both men showed an incredible amount of respect for each other. The two Brazilians went the full 25 minutes, with Santos edging out a close decision on the judges’ scorecards.

Jason Miller charged with two felonies after allegedly breaking a man's ribs in a bar fight

Adam D Martin - October 25, 2021

Former UFC fighter Jason Miller was charged with two felonies after allegedly breaking a man’s ribs in a bar fight that occurred last month. TMZ Sports first reported that Miller had been charged with two more felonies for assault and battery following an alleged incident in a bar fight that took place in September. According to the report, Miller got into an altercation at a San Fernando Valley bar with a man who Miller then allegedly assaulted. The report says that the man initially did not want to file a police report against Miller, but once he went to the hospital and was diagnosed with broken ribs, he had no choice but to file the report. It was earlier this week where police offers decided that they would be charging Miller with the two felonies. If convicted, Miller could end up spending years behind bars for the alleged crime.

Paulo Costa issues statement following decision loss to Marvin Vettori at UFC Vegas 41

Adam D Martin - October 25, 2021

UFC middleweight contender Paulo Costa issued a statement following his unanimous decision loss to Marvin Vettori at UFC Vegas 41. Costa and Vettori went to war for 25 minutes in the main event of UFC Vegas 41. In what was originally scheduled to be a middleweight main event, the fight was shifted up to the light heavyweight division after Costa showed up heavy on fight week. Despite the weight issues, though, Costa put up one hell of a fight against Vettori. The two blown-up middleweights stood in the pocket and slugged it out for five rounds, with Vettori eventually winning the fight by unanimous decision on the judges’ scorecards. It was a fantastic fight and one that Costa feels like he did enough in order to get his hand raised.

Jorge Masvidal believes Jake Paul was trolling with big-money fight offers

Adam D Martin - October 25, 2021

UFC welterweight superstar Jorge Masvidal believes that YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul was trolling with his big-money fight offers. Masvidal is set to step back into the Octagon at UFC 269 on December 11 when he takes on rival Leon Edwards. It’s the first fight for Masvidal since April when he lost via KO to UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Even though he lost that fight, Masvidal remains one of the biggest stars in the sport of MMA today and so he became a natural target for Paul when he was busy calling out MMA fighters. According to Paul, he was willing to pay Masvidal upwards of $50 million to fight him, but Masvidal doesn’t buy it.

Harry Kettle - October 25, 2021

UFC star Khamzat Chimaev has explained why he finds it difficult to respect Conor McGregor outside of his fighting ability. Over the years we’ve seen Conor McGregor achieve some truly great things inside the Octagon and, to an extent, within his business ventures away from fighting. Alas, he hasn’t always been the shining example of how a UFC champion should behave after a series of run-ins with the law.

Adam Martin - October 24, 2021

UFC president Dana White revealed the fight night weights of Paulo Costa and Marvin Vettori at Saturday night’s UFC Vegas 41 event. Costa and Vettori were originally scheduled to fight in a 185lbs middleweight bout in the main event of UFC Vegas 41, but Costa showed up to fight week heavy. Because he was unable to make the 185lbs limit, the UFC then talked about booking the fight at a catchweight of 195lbs, instead. But Costa could not make that weight, either, and the UFC was finally forced to move the fight all the way up to 205lbs in the light heavyweight division. Because Costa was so heavy, he was forced to give Vettori 30% of his purse.

Jan Blachowicz explains what Israel Adesanya has to do in order to get the rematch

Adam D Martin - October 24, 2021

UFC light heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz explained what middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has to do in order to get the rematch. Blachowicz and Adesanya met back at UFC 259 earlier this year and Blachowicz defended his belt in an upset when he won a unanimous decision to hand Adesanya his first career loss in MMA. Despite the lopsided loss, Adesanya has made it clear that he intends to move back up to 205lbs in the future. Since losing to Blachowicz earlier this year, Adesanya defended his belt at 185lbs against Marvin Vettori and he is next set to take on Robert Whittaker in a rematch in early 2022. Should Adesanya defeat Whittaker, there will be fans calling for him to take a chance and move back up to light heavyweight.

Alexander Volkanovski accuses UFC commentators of being biased against him

Adam D Martin - October 24, 2021

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski accused the UFC commentators of being biased against him during their recent fight calls. Volkanovski defeated rival Brian Ortega at UFC 266 last month to defend the promotion’s 145lbs belt. However, he feels as if the commentators didn’t give him a fair shake during his performance in that match, nor did they give him a fair shake when he fought Max Holloway in their rematch last summer at UFC 251. As far as Volkanovski goes, he believes the UFC commentators are biased against him for whatever reason, and he believes it could have something to do with his nationality. Speaking to ESPN in a recent interview, Volkanovski opened up on why he has a bone to pick with the UFC commentators. For the champ, he believes he is not being given his just due.

Marvin Vettori reacts following main event win over Paulo Costa at UFC Vegas 41

Adam Martin - October 24, 2021

UFC middleweight contender Marvin Vettori reacted following his main event win over Paulo Costa at Saturday’s UFC Vegas 41 event. Vettori was supposed to fight Costa in a middleweight fight that headlined UFC Vegas 41, but the fight was shifted to light heavyweight after Costa showed up heavy to fight week. Despite the weight class switch, the fight turned out to be an absolute battle as both Vettori and Costa stood in the pocket and traded for nearly the full five rounds that the fight was scheduled as. It was overall a very impressive performance by Vettori as he moved up in weight and still defeated a bigger opponent for one of his biggest wins yet.

UFC women’s bantamweight contender Jessica-Rose Clark issued an apology to the fans following her lopsided win at UFC Vegas 41. Clark used her wrestling to control Joselyne Edwards on the mat and grind her out for a unanimous decision win. It was not the most entertaining fight as Clark appeared to be more content with winning the fight based on control rather than damage. However, she did what she needed to do to get the win. Taking to her social media following the fight, Clark issued a statement where she apologized to the fans for putting on an entertaining fight, while explaining that she needed to do what she needed to do in order to get the W.

Video | Marvin Vettori trolls Paulo Costa with Mezzocorona wine celebration

Adam D Martin - October 24, 2021

UFC middleweight contender Marvin Vettori trolled his rival, Paulo Costa, with a Mezzocorona wine celebration following his big win. Vettori won a hard-fought unanimous decision over Costa in the main event of UFC Vegas 41 on Saturday night. The fight was originally intended to take place at 185lbs, but after Costa showed up to fight week heavy and off weight, the promotion had no choice but to shift the fight up to the 205lbs division. It’s possible that since both men didn’t have to cut as much weight that their durability was increased in the fight, which helped it go the full five rounds. Either way, Vettori got the win and Costa got the loss. Even though it was at 205lbs, Vettori still figures to make a move in the middleweight rankings with the win.

Watch Fedor Emelianenko land his incredible knockout on Tim Johnson in slow motion

Adam D Martin - October 24, 2021

Watch heavyweight MMA legend Fedor Emelianenko land his incredible knockout on Tim Johnson in slow motion at Saturday’s Bellator 269 event. The 45-year-old Emelianenko entered the fight with Johnson as the underdog but he got the job done in the first round with a brutal knockout. Don’t look now, but Emelianenko is now riding a two-fight win streak after knocking out Quinton Jackson in his last fight two years ago. Overall, Emelianenko has won four of his last five fights, with all four of those wins coming by way of knockout. However, he has said that he is considering retiring from the sport, so it’s hard to say for sure whether or not this Johnson fight was his last. Knowing Emelianenko, he will likely fight again. However, we should still enjoy his beautiful knockout win over Johnson, especially since it could be the last he ever lands.

Adam D Martin - October 24, 2021

UFC lightweight contender Islam Makhachev responded to rival Dan Hooker’s offer to make their fight at UFC 267 for five rounds instead. As you are all now aware, Hooker stepped up on short notice to take the fight with Makhachev at UFC 267 in Abu Dhabi after Rafael dos Anjos was forced to withdraw with an injury. Hooker is a huge underdog to get the upset here against Makhachev, but that isn’t stopping him from wanting to be in the cage with his rival potentially 10 minutes longer. Hooker has taken to social media in the past week to request that his fight with Makhachev be moved to five rounds instead of three. Now, Makhachev has responded.
