Gilbert Burns says Kamaru Usman is helping him prepare for Khamzat Chimaev

Gilbert Burns brought in a familiar face for his UFC 273 fight against Khamzat Chimaev. Burns, who trains at Sanford MMA, says Usman came back to the gym to help him prepare for the Swede. Usman, of course, used to train at the gym but when he was booked to defend his title against Burns, he left to go train under Trevor Wittman. Yet, throughout their fight camp, the two always remained close and they are now training with now another again.

Khamzat Chimaev has all the confidence in the world that he will not only beat but smash Gilbert Burns at UFC 273. Chimaev is getting the toughest test of his career as he faces Burns who is the second-ranked welterweight and fought for the title last year. However, the oddsmakers have Chimaev as a massive favorite as many view him as a future champion, and for the Swede, he believes he will prove that at UFC 273 as he thinks Burns is too weak for him.

However, he was forced to withdraw from the bout due to the ongoing war in his home country. In his place is Logan Storley, with the expectation that the winner of Bellator 281’s headliner will face Amosov in the future.

Kelvin Gastelum has explained why he decided to take a short-notice replacement t UFC 273. Gastelum was set to face Nassourdine Imavov but the Frenchman had visa issues so the fight was off. It was then reported that Gastelum would be removed from the card and the bout with Imanov would be rescheduled. However, on Tuesday, it was revealed that ‘KG’ would now face unranked fighter Dricus Du Plessis, and the former TUF winner has a good reason why.

Ben Rothwell is no longer a member of the UFC roster. Rothwell was scheduled to fight Alexander Gustafsson at heavyweight on May 21. However, on Thursday it was revealed by algorithm-based Twitter account UFC Roster Watch that ‘Big Ben’ was removed from the fan rankings pool. MMAFighting then confirmed with the promotion that the UFC decided to release Rothwell.
