Tonight’s UFC 273 event featured a highly anticipated welterweight bout between Khamzat Chimaev and Gilbert Burns. Chimaev (11-0 MMA) was looking to improve his Octagon record to 5-0 with a win over ‘Durinho’ this evening. ‘The Wolf’ was coming off a dominant first round submission victory over Li Jingliang in his most previous effort at UFC 267 (see that here).

Tonight’s UFC 273 main card features a key women’s strawweight bout between Mackenzie Dern and Tecia Torres. Dern (11-2 MMA), an accomplished Brazilian black belt and MMA fighter, will be looking to rebound from her loss to Marina Rodriguez last October. The jiu-jitsu ace previously won four straight fights and is regarded as one of the top female grapplers of her generation.
Joanna Jedrzejczyk set to return for a rematch with Weili Zhang

Former UFC strawweight queen Joanna Jedrzejczyk is set to make her highly anticipated Octagon return in a rematch with Weili Zhang. That news comes courtesy of ESPN, who reported that Jedrzejczyk (16-4 MMA) and Zhang (21-3 MMA) have verbally agreed to throw down at June’s UFC 275 event in Singapore.
Chael Sonnen advocates for possible Logan Paul-Paddy Pimblett UFC fight: "I'm into it!"

Chael Sonnen has given his stamp of approval for the proposed Logan Paul-Paddy Pimblett UFC fight. Over the last few years, Logan Paul has openly pondered a move into MMA. The 27-year-old was a former high school and collegiate wrestler. Promotions such as Bellator have said they have an interest in the YouTuber. However, Paul, alongside his brother, has shown far more interest in competing under the UFC banner.

UFC president Dana White has given his first public thoughts on Jorge Masvidal assaulting Colby Covington. Last month in the main event of UFC 272, ‘Chaos’ and ‘Gamebred’ collided. The build-up to the fight was intense, as both men traded many personal insults. However, much of the raw vitriol came from Covington’s end, who called Masvidal a bad father and discussed his children.
Jared Vanderaa believes he could be fighting for job at UFC 273, but confident he finishes Aleksei Oleinik early

Jared Vanderaa didn’t hesitate to accept a fight against Aleksei Oleinik at UFC 273. Oleinik was supposed to face Ilir Latifi on Saturday night, but on just a weeks’ notice the Swede was forced out of the fight. When Vanderaa was offered the fight he immediately accepted it as it is his shot to get back into the win column.

Vinc Pichel wanted to fight Mark Madsen for a few reasons. Pichel and Madsen were booked to fight one another at UFC 271 in February, but the wrestling ace was forced out of the bout. Pichel was then offered a fight against Nasrat Haqparast but ultimately decided to turn that down as he had his sights firmly set on Madsen.

Jairzinho Rozenstruik (12-3 MMA) was set to match-up with Marcin Tybura (22-7 MMA) at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida.
Kay Hansen issues statement after missing weight for UFC 273 fight with Piera Rodriguez

It will be Kay Hansen (7-5 MMA) vs Piera Rodriguez (7-0 MMA) in the women’s strawweight bout at UFC 273 tomorrow night, Saturday April 9th at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. However, at the weigh-ins today, Kay Hansen missed making her weight for the fight. Hansen weighed in at 118.5 pounds and was consequently fined 20% of her purse, which will now go to her opponent, Rodriguez.

UFC star Conor McGregor has asked Dana White to increase the bonus payouts ahead of UFC 273 this weekend. Many years ago in April 2013, a young Conor McGregor made his UFC debut by knocking out Marcus Brimage in just over one minute. In his post-fight interview, he called on UFC president Dana White to reward him with a $60,000 bonus for what he deemed to be the Knockout of the Night.

Aljamain Sterling believes he will finish Petr Yan in the first round at UFC 273 to defend his bantamweight title. In the co-main event of UFC 273 from Jacksonville, Florida, Sterling and Yan are having their highly-anticipated rematch to unify their titles. Sterling became the undisputed champion back at UFC 259 last March when Yan was DQ’d for landing an illegal knee. Since then, Sterling has been rehabbing an injury while Yan went on to defeat Cory Sandhagen to become the interim bantamweight champion.

Paddy Pimblett has announced that he’s gained nearly fifty pounds just weeks after UFC London. ‘The Baddy’ faced Kazula Vargas on March 19th in a lightweight bout. For the fight, Pimblett notably had to get down in weight, as he normally balloons up out of camp. For the bout, the lightweight successfully made weight at 155-pounds.
