Angela Hill puts out open call to women's strawweights, Tecia Torres volunteers services
Adam Martin - May 9, 2021
UFC women’s fighter Angela Hill put out an open call to other women’s strawweights, and Tecia Torres has volunteered her services. Hill was set to fight Amanda Ribas in a high-profile women’s strawweight bout on the UFC Vegas 26 undercard, but the fight fell apart at the last minute when Ribas tested positive for COVID-19. Unfortunately, the late scratch meant that it was impossible for the UFC to get someone to fight Hill and she was pulled from the card without getting a fight. It’s possible that the UFC will try and re-book this fight but it’s also possible the promotion could have Hill return in a quick turnaround fight since she is not fully healthy and ready.

On Saturday night, Hughes lost to Tecia Torres as a result of a doctor stoppage courtesy of an eye injury. It turns out that she wound up being diagnosed with hyphema, or pooling of blood inside the eye, and the UFC’s ophthalmologist said that her iris was 80% filled with blood.

Harry Kettle - December 7, 2020
Angela Hill has announced that she will not be fighting Tecia Torres at UFC 256 after testing positive for COVID-19. Hill is often viewed as a big fan favorite in the Ultimate Fighting Championship and rightly so, whether it be due to her fighting style or her overall personality. She was hoping to get another crack at Torres five years on from their battle at UFC 188, but now, she’ll have to wait and see whether or not the fight gets rebooked.

Tecia Torres says Raquel Pennington agrees with decision to return for fifth round
Tom Taylor - May 14, 2018
Last Saturday night, in the main event of UFC 224, Raquel Pennington got her long-awaited shot at Amanda Nunes and the UFC women’s bantamweight belt. Regrettably, this title shot didn’t go as planned for Pennington, as she was stopped by the champion in the fifth round. Unfortunately, Pennington’s dashed title dreams are also accompanied by a bit of controversy, as she could be heard telling her corner she was “done” between the fourth and fifth rounds, and was encouraged to return for a fifth round all the same.
Colby Covington Says He Knows Why Raquel Pennington Was Mad at Him During UFC 25 Presser, "Everybody's just jealous."
Drake Riggs - April 9, 2018
During the UFC 223 fight week this past week, along with all the drama surrounding that event, the UFC also held a press conference for their next big lineup of events. Somewhat similar to the “Time Is Now” and “Summer Kickoff” pressers we’ve seen in recent years. These style of press conferences feature all of the headliners for the upcoming events as well as all title fight participants. One of which included the likes of top welterweight contenders and rather outspoken, Colby Covington who stole the show as per usual.

Drake Riggs - March 20, 2018
Tecia Torres: “Well here in Brazil…we’re friends so we’re gonna be friends but when it comes down to the fight in May, business is business. Amanda [Nunes] is the champion for a reason. She deserves to be there but in this sport we all want that same spot so we have to fight for it and Raquel [Pennington] is going in there to fight for it. At the end of the day, business is business. Outside that, we’re friends and there’s no reason to be rivals.” Nina Ansaroff: “The thing is, it’s not just Amanda and Raquel…we’re fighters too, we know what they’re going through the same as they know what we go through. So to me it’s not a big deal. If I were sparring Tecia in the gym, it would be the same thing. Her girlfriend would want to help her do good against me and Amanda would help me not have trouble with her. Fighting is just the business. It’s even better because you’re getting paid for it you know? We do this as part of our job, it’s not that big of a deal.”

BREAKING | Tecia Torres Not Fighting For Title, Faces Jessica Andrade at UFC Orlando
Drake Riggs - December 27, 2017
Reports and rumors were circulating recently that the Rose Namajunas would be making her first title defense at UFC 221 in Australia…but not in a rematch with the woman she defeated for the title, Joanna Jedrzejczyk but the woman she’s 1-1 with, Tecia Torres. The Orlando Sentinel reports that the February 24 UFC on Fox 28 will be getting a big Strawweight fight between Torres and Jessica Andrade. Torres entered the UFC a part of The Ultimate Fighter season 20 and most recently defeated Michelle Waterson at UFC 218 by unanimous decision, extending her winning streak to three. Her last and only loss came to the champion, Rose Namajunas via split decision in a very close fight. Torres also holds a win over Namajunas from back when they fought in Invicta. A trilogy between the two happening was something that made most sense outside of Joanna getting a rematch. Well, either of those options or Jessica Andrade getting her second title shot.

If you thought the UFC were done announcing fights, think again. And if you think MTV is going to stop Michelle Waterson from fighting, you’re wrong. It was just revealed that Waterson would be competing on The Challenge raising money for charity. Naturally we thought this meant she’d be taking a break from fighting, but that isn’t the case. The UFC just announced that Karate Hottie will be fighting Tecia Torres at a ridiculously stacked UFC 218 card in Detriot. DETROIT! There’s a reason MMA is often referred to as “the hurt business”. Though they are certainly not what we hope for, our hectic sport frequently produces some truly nasty injuries. We’ve seen arms snap like tooth picks. We’ve seen legs break like spaghetti. We’ve seen skulls literally shatter. And of course, we’ve seen a whole hell of a lot of gruesome cuts.
