The Octagon returned to Texas for tonight’s UFC Austin event, a thirteen-bout fight card headlined by Calvin Kattar vs. Josh Emmett. Tonight’s main event proved to be a thrilling back and forth five round affair. Both Calvin Kattar and Josh Emmett were able to land some big shots throughout the course of the contest and the fights seemed to be knotted at 2 round apiece headed into the fifth and final frame. After twenty-five minutes of wild action, Emmett was awarded the split decision victory from the judges in attendance.

Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping says he was ‘accosted’ by robots in Singapore for not wearing a mask. Bisping (30-9 MMA) was of course in Singapore earlier this month to serve as a commentator for the UFC 275 pay-per-view event. During his most recent episode of the Believe You Me podcast, Bisping spoke about his experiences in the “beautiful” but “expensive” country, and explained how robots are a part of everyday life.

Tonight’s UFC Austin main card was kicked off by a highly anticipated bantamweight bout featuring Adrian Yanez taking on Tony Kelley. Kelley (8-3 MMA) had missed weight by one-and-a-half pounds (137.5) for the contest and was subsequently forced to forfeit twenty percent of his fight purse to Yanez. The 35-year-old had entered the bout on a two-fight winning streak, his latest being a TKO victory over Randy Costa.

UFC commentator Daniel Cormier and middleweight fighter Phil Hawes had a heated exchange inside the Octagon at UFC Austin. Hawes (12-3 MMA) squared off with Cormier’s longtime friend Deron Winn (7-3 MMA) on tonight’s preliminary fight card in Texas. The result was a second round TKO victory for ‘Megatron’, who demolished the former Olympic Freestyle wrestler with elbows (see that here).
Bobby Green sounds off on USADA after being "chased" for drug test: "Y'all can suck my d**k!"

UFC lightweight Bobby Green is not happy after allegedly being “chased” by USADA (United States Anti-Doping Agency) for a drug test. Green (29-13-1 MMA), who has not competed since suffering a first round TKO loss to Islam Makhachev in February, took to social media where he sounded off on USADA officials.

Lightweight veteran Joe Lauzon has explained why he was forced to pull out of tonight’s UFC Austin co-main event with Donald Cerrone. Earlier this afternoon news broke that Lauzon (28-15 MMA) was forced to withdraw from his scheduled fight with Cerrone (36-16 MMA).

Tonight’s UFC Austin fight card just lost it’s co-main event as Donald Cerrone will no longer be fighting Joe Lauzon. The veteran lightweight standouts were expected to collide this evening in a fan-friendly affair. However, MMA Journalist Ariel Helwani recently took to Twitter where he revealed that the Donald Cerrone vs Joe Lauzon fight has been called off.

UFC bantamweight Sean O’Malley believes that Daniel Cormier wants him to lose. ‘Sugar’ is scheduled to return next month against Pedro Munhoz at UFC 276. The bout is expected to be the biggest test of the 27-year-old’s career to date. He’s also looking to expand his winning streak to three. During that stretch, he’s scored wins over Raulian Paiva, Kris Moutinho, and Thomas Almeida.
Chael Sonnen warns heavyweights against fighting Tom Aspinall: "You're all getting punched up"

UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion Julianna Pena believes she has marketed herself the right way. Julianna Pena (12-4 MMA) last fought in December 2021 at UFC 269 where she defeated Amanda Nunes (21-5 MMA). Pena staggered Nunes in the second round of their co-main event and secured the rear-naked choke to capture the UFC women’s bantamweight crown.

Ramos suffered a decision loss to Zubaira Tukhugov back in October and since then he has been waiting to fight. However, no opportunities came up until this Saturday when he will face Chavez.

Jiri Prochazka believes he made a key mistake against Glover Teixeira in their UFC 275 title fight. Prochazka and Teixeira had a back-and-forth war as both men had moments in the fight and they both nearly finished the fight. Late in the fifth round, Prochazka was able to get ahold of Teixeira’s back and eventually got the submission win with 28 seconds left to become the new champ.
Cory Sandhagen vs. Song Yadong targeted to headline UFC Fight Night card in September

Cory Sandhagen will finally be making his return to the Octagon. According to MMA reporter Marcel Dorff, the UFC is working on making Sandhagen vs. Song Yadong to headline a Fight Night card on September 17. The fight is not a done deal, per the report but this is the fight the promotion wants to make. The location of the event is still to be determined.
