While “The Diamond” won their first battle five years ago, things played out differently this time. Both men went back-and forth in the standup in the early going of their rematch. While it looked like fight fans were in for another barn burner, the fight ended abruptly in the second stanza. Poirier got caught with a head kick, shutting his lights off.

It’s a tough skid for Chiesa, who had previously been on a four-fight winning streak prior to this current stretch.

The highly anticipated BMF title fight proved to be the thrilling back and forth affair that most fight fans were hoping for. Then, in round two, Justin Gaethje was able to find a home for a big head kick which sent Dustin Poirier crashing to the canvas.
