Erin Blanchfield issues statement following one-sided UFC Atlantic City loss against Manon Fiorot

Erin Blanchfield ran into a stumbling block when she was swept by Manon Fiorot at UFC Atlantic City, and she has briefly reacted to the loss. Blanchfield and Fiorot shared the Octagon inside Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey on March 30th. Early on in the fight, Blanchfield had a hold of a guillotine choke, but once Fiorot got out and the fight returned to the feet, Blanchfield just kept eating shots while having no success getting to the grappling. It was a clear victory for the stronger Fiorot, and a bump in the road for Blanchfield’s title hopes.

Joaquin Buckley scored a big win at UFC Atlantic City over Vicente Luque, but he isn’t interested in calling out anyone specifically. Buckley and Luque shared the Octagon inside Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The oddsmakers had this one being tight, and in the end it was Buckley who secured the second-round TKO finish. “New Mansa” extends his winning streak to three, while Luque now falls to 1-3 in his last four outings.
Urijah Faber faces Jeff Curran in rematch under combat jiu-jitsu rules at A1 Combat 21

The rematch between between Urijah Faber and Jeff Curran has been made official. A1 Combat has announced that “The California Kid” will face Curran on May 25th in the main event of A1 Combat 21. This will be held under combat jiu-jitsu rules, which allows for open palm strikes. Faber and Curran had a WEC championship fight all the way back in late 2007. Faber successfully defended the WEC Featherweight Championship via second-round submission. The bout earned “Fight of the Night” honors.

Chris Weidman isn’t planning on hanging up his gloves just yet. Weidman was seen in action this past Saturday night against Bruno Silva on the main card of UFC Atlantic City. The bout was marred in controversy, as Weidman landed several eye pokes, including one that led to his TKO victory in the second round. Referee Gary Copeland came under fire for how he officiated the fight, and Silva was none too pleased with him as well.
