UFC middleweight legend Anderson Silva is 44-years old now and after losing via first-round TKO to Jared Cannonier at UFC 237 in May, the end may soon be near for “The Spider.” If Silva does retire, though, his son Gabriel may potentially carry on the family’s legacy. According to the elder Silva, his 20-year-old son may actually be a better fighter than he is.

Holly Holm’s head coach Mike Winkeljohn is certain Holly Holm will bounce back from her head kick KO loss, unlike her former opponent Ronda Rousey. The former bantamweight champion looked to reclaim her belt last weekend, but couldn’t defeat the strong adversity that presented itself in Amanda Nunes. At UFC 239, Holm received a head kick and a flurry of punches that secured a first round KO victory for “The Lioness”.

The 25-year-old sat down on the Joe Rogan podcast to discuss a range of topics including Diego Sanchez’s recent loss against Michael Chiesa. Rogan and the “Funk Master” criticized Diego Sanchez for picking a new ‘self-awareness coach’ named Josh Fabia to serve as his cornerman in the fight.

Kayla Harrison and Jorge Masvidal came to an agreement prior to “Gamebred’s” UFC 239 knockout of Ben Askren. It was a deal that seemed to work out swimmingly for both fighters. Harrison improved to 5-0 with her first-round submission win over Morgan Frier at PFL 2019: 4. With the victory, which only took 1:25 to secure, Harrison earned her spot in the PFL playoffs and sets up an October matchup with Genah Fabian at PFL 2019: 7.

While De Randamie respects Nunes, she sees the champion as a beatable fighter.

This Saturday, in the co-main event of UFC Sacramento, Urijah Faber returns to the cage opposite rising bantamweight contender Ricky Simon. If he wins, he’ll take a big step in the direction of a bantamweight title fight with new champion Henry Cejudo, who called him out after claiming the title with a TKO of Marlon Moraes at UFC 238. “Absolutely, I’ll never rule that out,” Faber said of Cejudo in an interview with MMA Fighting. “Henry just called me out, the current champ at two different weight classes and an Olympic gold medalist. So that’s an enticing fight for me because of the matchup, and you know, the reason I’m in the sport. And the fact he threw me in the mix and we talked about it 10 years ago prior, which is kind of cool how that all played out. So that’s always in the back of my head, for sure.”

UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier ran into UFC light heavyweight champion Jon Jones before the ESPYS on Wednesday, and not surprisingly the encounter wasn’t cordial. According to TMZ Sports, who spoke to Cormier at the event, the lingering resentment between DC and Jones still remains.

Lyoto Machida vs. Gegard Mousasi 2 set for Bellator 228

Lyoto Machida and Gegard Mousasi are set to run it back at Bellator 228 on September 28, Bellator announced. The two fought back at UFC Fight Night 36 in February 2014. There, they were the fight of the night but it was Machida who did enough as he edged out a unanimous decision. Since then, the Brazilian went on to fight for the UFC middleweight title again, but lost and then headed to Bellator after a 3-4 record following the Mousasi fight.

Paulo Costa has always been a big middleweight. Heading into his UFC 241 showdown with former UFC middleweight title challenger Yoel Romero, he looks absolutely massive. Early on Thursday morning, the Brazilian knockout artist shared a photo to his Instagram account which shows him glazed in sweat, taking what is surely a well-deserved breather. His shoulders and arms look like those of a rhinoceros.

Ryan Bader booked to defend heavyweight title against Cheick Kongo

Ryan Bader, Bellator‘s resident two-division champ, is now set to defend his heavyweight strap. Bader, who also owns the light heavyweight title, will make this defense opposite fellow UFC veteran Cheick Kongo. The fight will go down at Bellator 226 on September 7 inside the SAP Center in San Jose, California. This card will also mark the beginning of Bellator’s anticipated featherweight Grand Prix.

With the chaos that is the UFC’s welterweight division, former champion Tyron Woodley seems to have a solution. “The Chosen One” had his over two year title reign come to an end at UFC 235 when he lost a unanimous decision to Kamaru Usman. We haven’t heard much from Woodley following his first defeat since 2014. Woodley was scheduled to face Robbie Lawler in the main event of UFC Minneapolis last month, but the 37-year-old was forced to withdraw from the bout with a hand injury.
