The Octagon invades Montevideo tonight for UFC Uruguay, a 13-bout fight card headlined by a women’s flyweight title fight between Liz Carmouche and Valentina Shevchenko. This evenings main event will serve as a rematch, as Shevchenko was previously defeated by Carmouche via TKO (cut) at C3 Fights in September of 2010.
Cris Cyborg reveals she is officially done with the UFC

Leon Edwards (18-3 MMA) is looking to secure himself a future fight with either Jorge Masvidal or Kamaru Usman. The surging welterweight contender, Edwards, has won eight straight fights and is in prime position for a number one contenders bout.
Wrong winner announced in Invicta FC fight

There was a huge mess-up by the Kansas Athletic Commission on Friday night at Invicta FC 36. In women’s flyweight action, Stephanie Geltmacher was originally announced as the victor of her fight against Victoria Leonardo via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28). Geltmacher conducted her post-fight interview in the winner’s circle, but then the shenanigans started. The commission informed the fighters and Invicta that they calculated the scorecards incorrectly. Instead of Geltmacher winning by split decision, Leonardo was announced as the winner via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
CSAC suspends the bantamweight license of Aspen Ladd

The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) has suspended the bantamweight fighting license of UFC standout Aspen Ladd. The news comes from MMAJunkie, who reported that Ladd will need to do some work before fighting at bantamweight in her next bout.
Stipe Miocic believes lay off is secret to beating Cormier

Stipe Miocic believes his layoff will help him beat Daniel Cormier. Miocic is scheduled to rematch the heavyweight champion, Daniel Cormier at UFC 241. The event in August arrives a year after Stipe fought “DC” for the heavyweight title at UFC 226. Stipe lost to a KO during the first round but successfully defended the belt three times prior.
Chael Sonnen reacts to Colby Covington's radio show ban following spat with Miesha Tate

Chael Sonnen believes the banning of Colby Covington on a SiriusXM radio show is a mistake that has been repeated throughout the entertainment industry. Covington served as a guest on the MMA Tonight show hosted by former UFC women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate and Ryan McKinnell. Things got ugly as Covington accused Tate of talking behind his back. McKinnell intervened, firing off verbal jabs on the UFC Newark ratings and Covington called the pair “jobbers.”

The event will be headlined by a women’s flyweight title fight between champion Valentina Shevchenko and challenger Liz Carmouche. The bout will actually be a rematch of a 2010 fight, which Carmouche won via controversial doctor stoppage.

Despite being a comedian, Joe Rogan didn’t find Quentin Tarantino’s portrayal of Bruce Lee funny. The UFC commentator bashed the movie Once Upon A Time In Hollywood‘s portrayal of Bruce Lee on his popular Joe Rogan Experience podcast. “That was fu**ed up,” Rogan told his guest Brendan Schaub.

In the long history of the UFC, only a few fighters have managed to earn 20 wins inside the Octagon. They are: Georges St-Pierre, Michael Bisping, Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone, Demian Maia, and as of last Saturday, lightweight veteran Jim Miller. Miller earned his 20th career win when he submitted fellow veteran Clay Guida in the co-main event of UFC Newark.

The First Family was in attendance for Covington’s main event showdown with former UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler, and even visited him in his locker room in the moments before his fight.
Jorge Masvidal's manager denies that UFC offered fight against Leon Edwards

The manager of Jorge Masvidal says that his client has never been offered a fight against Leon Edwards despite reports saying he turned it down. Edwards said an interview this week that the UFC offered him a fight against Masvidal and that he accepted it, yet Edwards claims Masvidal turned the fight down. UFC president Dana White said earlier this week that Colby Covington would get the next title shot against Kamaru Usman, and said the promotion would offer Masvidal another opponent, which most assumed to be Edwards.

In a video posted to Instagram, Perry and his wife “reenacted” Covington’s recent victory over Robbie Lawler, accusing the former interim champion of having “pool noodle punches.”
