Bellator heavyweight Ronny Markes is looking to fight Josh Barnett at Bellator 238 next month after their Bellator Salute The Troops fight was canceled. Barnett fell ill and was forced to be removed from the card just hours before he was set to fight Markes in the main event of Bellator Salute The Troops. Barnett later posted a video statement where he explained why he couldn’t fight and how disappointed he was to let down the troops and the fans.

Bellator heavyweight Quinton “Rampage” Jackson has opened up as a big betting underdog against the legend Fedor Emelianenko for their New Year’s Eve fight. Jackson meets Emelianenko in the main event of Bellator 237, which takes place on December 29 at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. It’s a fight between two legends of mixed martial arts who head back to Japan years after they first starred in PRIDE.

Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar took on The Korean Zombie in the headliner of today’s UFC Busan event in South Korea. ‘The Answer’ had taken the bout on short-notice, this after ‘TKZ’s’ original opponent Brian Ortega was forced to withdraw from the contest due to injury.

Doo Ho Choi made his highly-anticipated return to the Octagon at today’s UFC Busan event against Canadian, Charles Jourdain. It was his first fight since January of 2018 as he has been in the process of finalizing his mandatory military service and can’t leave South Korea. But, with the card being in his home country he was eligible to compete.

Bellator heavyweight contender Josh Barnett has released a statement following his last-minute removal from the main event of Bellator Salute The Troops. Barnett was scheduled to face Ronny Markes in the headlining fight, but about an hour before it was set to take place, Bellator announced the fight was canceled due to an illness to Barnett. Toby Misech vs. Erik Perez ended up taking the headlining spot, with Misech pulling off a stunning upset knockout win.

‘The Korean Zombie’ Chan Sung Jung picked up arguably the biggest win of his mixed martial arts career today, defeating Frankie Edgar by first round TKO in the UFC Busan main event. It was an incredible performance from ‘TKZ’, which culminated in his eighth career “performance of the night” from UFC officials.

Today’s UFC Busan event is co-headlined by a light heavyweight matchup featuring Volkan Oezdemir taking on Alexander Rakic. Oezdemir (16-4 MMA) recently put an end to his three-fight losing skid in August by scoring a second round knockout victory over Ilir Latifi. ‘No Time’ has gone 4-3 thus far in his UFC career, scoring highlight reel knockout wins over Jimi Manuwa and Misha Cirkunov during that stretch.

‘The Korean Zombie’ picked up arguably the biggest win of his career today at UFC Busan, stopping former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar in the very first round. Chan Sung Jung (16-5 MMA) was able to rock the New Jersey native early on in the fight with a solid punch and quickly used that momentum to take control of the fight. Soon after, ‘TKZ’ would drop ‘The Answer’ with a combination and immediately proceeded to take his back. Edgar would scramble free, but was ultimately dropped again and this time was put away by ground and pound strikes (see that here).

UFC welterweight superstar Jorge Masvidal says that he is the leading candidate to box Floyd Mayweather under the Zuffa Boxing banner. It’s no secret that UFC president Dana White and Mayweather, the boxing legend, are in cahoots and working on some sort of agreement for his comeback fight. Mayweather recently revealed that he is returning to the boxing ring after a short-lived retirement, but so far we haven’t heard who his opponent could be, only that his next fight will likely come under the Zuffa Boxing banner.

Dana White believes Conor McGregor beating Donald Cerrone is crucial for the Irishman’s career. On Jan. 18 in the main event of UFC 246, the Irishman in McGregor will make his long-awaited return to the Octagon to battle Cerrone. The fight will also be at welterweight as White says neither wanted to cut down to 155 pounds.
