While he came up short in his war against Justin Gaethje, the pair got ‘Fight of the Night’ honors. The bout was also labeled as one of the best of the entire year by many fans and pundits.

Michael Chandler (22-7 MMA) last fought back in November 2021 at UFC 268 where he suffered defeat at the hands of Justin Gaethje (23-3 MMA). ‘Iron’ is now scheduled to fight Tony Ferguson (26-6 MMA) in a much anticipated bout at UFC 274 on May 7, 2022, at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.

It seems that the long-awaited Michael Chandler vs. Tony Ferguson fight has a date. For months, ‘Iron’ and ‘El Cucuy’ have teased a fight against one another. However, a date hasn’t been known for the bout, as the UFC tried to set the fight for early summer but Ferguson wanted it sooner. It seems that the promotion has finally nailed down the fight and made it official.

A win over ‘El Cucuy’ would be a big one to stop a losing streak. However, many wouldn’t expect Chandler to earn a title shot with a win given his losing streak, and also that Ferguson is also on a losing streak.

Chandler and Gaethje just went toe-to-toe in an all-out war that took place on the UFC 268 main card. It was one of the best fights of the year, but at the end of the 15 minutes, it was Gaethje who got his hand raised by unanimous decision. “The Highlight” is now expected to fight for the UFC lightweight title in his next fight against the winner of UFC 269’s main event between the champion Charles Oliveira and top contender Dustin Poirier.

Although Gaethje and Chandler went toe-to-toe for three rounds and it was “The Highlight” winning a decision. Despite the fact the fight went to the scorecards, Brooks believes Chandler quit in a sense he didn’t try to win in the third round. Instead, he thinks Chandler tried to make it entertaining so people didn’t care that he lost.

Chandler fought three hard rounds with Justin Gaethje at this past Saturday’s UFC 268 pay-per-view card. Although Chandler lost the unanimous decision on the judges’ scorecards, his stock arguably went up despite the loss just because it was such an incredible fight. Importantly, Chandler’s durability allowed him to stay in the fight despite Gaethje throwing everything that he had at him. It was an amazing fight and it looks like the performance of Chandler caught the eye of the sport’s biggest star in McGregor.

Gaethje and Chandler went to war for 15 minutes in what was the best fight of the night at UFC 268. Both Gaethje and Chandler stool in the center of the Octagon and traded punches and kicks for three full rounds. Incredibly, both men had the toughness and durability to actually make it the distance even despite throwing everything including the kitchen sink at each other’s heads. It was an absolutely phenomenal fight, but at the end of the three rounds, it was Gaethje who got his hand raised by unanimous decision.
