Javier Mendez, the head coach of Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev, says he would advise Charles Oliveira to fight Conor McGregor next. After Oliveira submitted Dustin Poirier to defend his belt at UFC 269, many expected him to face Justin Gaethje next time out. However, he has recently called out McGregor and the Irishman expressed his mutual interest. Although “Notorious” is on a two-fight losing streak, Mendez believes the Brazilian should try and make the McGregor fight happen for a simple reason.

Conor McGregor has topped the 2021 list for athletes’ earnings per minute with an insane $8,695,652 per minute of competition, according to a recent report. The list, conducted by Online Betting Guide, works out how much an athlete received per every minute they were active. However, for McGregor, it only covers his January rematch with Dustin Poirier and not the July trilogy – and their claim that he was only in there for “two and a half minutes” seems to indicate that they’ve only accounted for the second round and not the first.

Michael Bisping, speaking on his youtube channel is letting fans know they should not blame the UFC, Dana White or anyone else but themselves if Conor McGregor gets a title shot in his return. “A lot of people inside the top-15, top-5, top-10, they’re gonna say: ‘What the f*ck is happening? Why is Conor McGregor getting to skip the line?’ Well guess what? As I said this is prize fighting, this is about pay-per-views. This is the UFC and they put on the fights, historically that we want to see, okay.” Bisping said. “The fights that we want to see, they are the fights the UFC put up. So, if you’re not happy that Conor McGregor might get to skip the line and fight the champion when he’s not even ranked, don’t blame Conor McGregor, don’t blame Dana White, don’t blame the UFC, blame your-f*cking-self because you are ultimately responsible.”

Chael Sonnen believes Conor McGregor is “very problematic” for Charles Oliveira and shared his thoughts on a McGregor-Oliveira matchup: “If there’s anybody that Conor is likely to beat to become the world champion, it is the sitting champion right now,” Sonnen said on his YouTube channel (h/t MMAJunkie). “Charles Oliveira, Conor McGregor is a fascinating matchup. It is very problematic for Oliveira. Conor McGregor is as good of a striker as this sport has ever seen. Oliveira is a very dynamic striker who showed some real wrestling prowess in a couple of contests but in other contests didn’t.”

He’s like, for me, the Muhammad Ali of the UFC. He’s just a fantastic athlete. A great businessman as well. But what he’s done in the sport and the UFC has been absolutely incredible, and I don’t think he’s celebrated as much as he should be here in Ireland. I think he is an absolute global superstar and just a phenomenal athlete, and he’s always been a complete gentleman towards me.”

While he may be coming off the back of consecutive defeats to Dustin Poirier, there’s no denying that Conor McGregor is still in great shape as he continues to prepare for his UFC return. He won the vacant belt with a KO win over Michael Chandler and now it appears his next fight will be against Justin Gaethje. However, he says he would be open to fighting McGregor next as he knows it would be a massive money fight for him.

It was a fascinating main event encounter but in the end, “Do Bronx” overwhelmed Poirier and secured the finish fairly comfortably in the third round.

Of course, Justin Gaethje and the winner of Makhachev-Dariush are in line for the belt.
