UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski explained why a Henry Cejudo fight doesn’t benefit him, but mostly benefits Cejudo. Cejudo has been calling out Volkanovski for months as he wants to return to the UFC at a third weight class and look to make history by winning a third UFC belt in a third division. Volkanovski, meanwhile, has not conveyed much interest in the fight as he already has a long list of challengers vying for his gold at 145lbs, including former champ Max Holloway.

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski suggested that Max Holloway might be “scared” of a trilogy fight against him. Volkanovski fought Holloway on Fight Island last year in a rematch and won a controversial split decision to keep his belt. Many people who watched that fight felt that Holloway did enough to win it, but Volkanovski got the judges’ decision to move to 2-0 against Holloway. Since then, Holloway has beaten both Calvin Kattar and Yair Rodriguez by decision and he seems to be the next man up for a title shot at 145lbs. However, following Holloway’s recent win over Rodriguez, he also mentioned Charles Oliveira and Conor McGregor as potential opponents, though most fans thought he would target Volkanovski specifically.

UFC featherweight champ Alexander Volkanovski sent a daunting message to Max Holloway, saying “stop playing the games and all the bullsh*t.” Volkanovski was watching intently last Saturday at UFC Vegas 42 when Holloway and Yair Rodriguez met in the five-round headliner. It was an absolute war, but at the end of the 25 minutes, it was Holloway who got his hand raised by unanimous decision. Fans and media were expecting Holloway to call out Volkanovski given that he had a close loss to him last year on Fight Island, but “Blessed” instead listed several opponents. He mentioned Volkanovski as an option, but he also brought up Conor McGregor and Charles Oliveira.

Volkanovski has spent 50 minutes total in the Octagon with Holloway, defeating him two times via decision, so he has a very good feel of how Holloway fights. As for Rodriguez, the champ hasn’t fought him yet, but with Rodriguez being one of the top fighters in the division, Volkanovski is very well aware of who he is, too. So when Volkanovski shared his prediction for this fight, you have to listen and respect his opinion as the 145lbs champ.

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski accused the UFC commentators of being biased against him during their recent fight calls. Volkanovski defeated rival Brian Ortega at UFC 266 last month to defend the promotion’s 145lbs belt. However, he feels as if the commentators didn’t give him a fair shake during his performance in that match, nor did they give him a fair shake when he fought Max Holloway in their rematch last summer at UFC 251. As far as Volkanovski goes, he believes the UFC commentators are biased against him for whatever reason, and he believes it could have something to do with his nationality. Speaking to ESPN in a recent interview, Volkanovski opened up on why he has a bone to pick with the UFC commentators. For the champ, he believes he is not being given his just due.

Demetrious Johnson thinks Henry Cejudo would have success at featherweight if he were to move up to fight Alex Volkanovski. Cejudo has recently made it clear he wants to return and fight Volkanovski for the featherweight title. It would be an intriguing matchup and Volkanovski has said he wants to be active so the timing does work as Max Holloway is slated to fight Yair Rodriguez in November.

UFC president Dana White responded to Henry Cejudo’s recent request for a UFC featherweight title shot against Alexander Volkanovski. Volkanovski defeated Brian Ortega at UFC 266 last month to mark his latest title defense at 145lbs. Following the fight, Cejudo made it clear that he wants a piece of the champ. “The Messenger” has called out “The Great” in the past for a fight, but until now, White hasn’t taken his calls for the fight seriously. However, Cejudo said that he has a meeting with White this week to talk about the fight, and the UFC president admitted that the two will have a chat about the Volkanovski fight. However, White calls it “a tough conversation.”

This past Saturday night, Volkanovski defended his 145lbs title once again with a unanimous decision win over Brian Ortega in the “Fight of the Night” at UFC 266. While Volkanovski is fully expected to face the winner of November’s Max Holloway vs. Yair Rodriguez for the belt sometime next year, Chikadze is doing his best to complicate things by calling for the title shot himself.

In the past, Cejudo has made it known that he would be willing to move up to featherweight in a bid to become the first three-division champ in UFC history, but up until this point, he hasn’t moved up in weight. However, now that Volkanovski has defended his belt, Cejudo is now begging White to give him the opportunity to move up to featherweight and make history vs. the champ.

The card saw Alexander Volkanovski defending his belt against Brian Ortega, Valentina Shevchenko defending her belt against Lauren Murphy, and Nick Diaz returning against Robbie Lawler. The event ended up delivering as Volkanovski edged out Ortega in one of the best fights of the year. Shevchenko, meanwhile, continued her dominance with a fourth-round TKO win over Lauren Murphy and Robbie Lawler exacted his revenge as he TKO’d Nick Diaz. Brian Ortega reacted following his UFC 266 loss to UFC featherweight champ Alex Volkanovksi, saying “that little bastard is tough as hell.” Ortega and Volkanovski went five hard rounds in the main event of Saturday’s UFC 266 pay-per-view card, but at the end of 25 minutes, it was Volkanovski getting his hand raised by unanimous decision. Although Ortega had several extremely tight submission attempts during the fight, Volkanovski was impossible to put away as he showed off incredible durability in his victory. Overall, it was just another phenomenal performance by Volkanovski, who is certainly one of the very best pound-for-pound MMA fighters right now.

Volkanovski defeated Ortega via unanimous decision in a fabulous performance in the UFC 266 main event. Volkanovski showed off incredible striking skills once again during the fight, not to mention improved grappling and submission defense skills. With the win over Ortega, Volkanovski has now won 20 straight fights, including all 10 of his UFC appearances. It’s beginning to get to the point where he is running out of fresh challengers in the UFC featherweight division, Volkanovski is apparently open to fighting at lightweight.
