UFC CEO Dana White has reacted to Brian Ortega bouncing back after near-disaster against Yair Rodriguez. During fighter introductions for his UFC Mexico City fight against “El Pantera,” Ortega appeared to roll his ankle while warming up. He then had had a shaky opening round, which saw his nose get busted up by Yair. Ortega was able to settled down and secured an arm triangle choke to force the submission in the third round.

The Octagon went south of the border for tonight’s UFC Mexico City event, a 13-bout fight card headlined by Brandon Moreno vs. Brandon Royval. The highly anticipated men’s flyweight main event proved to be a thrilling twenty-five-minute affair. Brandon Moreno got off to a strong start in the opening two rounds, but Brandon Royval stormed back in the final fifteen minutes of the fight. ‘Raw Dawg’ utilized forward pressure and a plethora of strikes to ultimately get the better of ‘The Assassin Baby’, earning a well-deserved split decision victory.

In their first fight back in July 2021 Rodriguez won in the first round due to a shoulder injury suffered by Ortega. However, in the rematch, the pros are actually going with the underdog in Ortega to pull off the upset.

Brian Ortega doesn’t think Alexander Volanovski looked like his usual self in his UFC 298 title fight against Ilia Topuria. Volkanovski was coming off a KO loss to Islam Makhachev back in October for the lightweight title and was making a fairly quick turnaround to face the undefeated challenger. Heading into the fight, Volkanovski was a slight betting favorite, but Topuria was confident he would KO the champ.

Brian Ortega has responded to Ilia Topuria’s claim that he won’t give him a title shot if he defeats Alex Volkanovski for the UFC Featherweight Championship. Topuria will be challenging Volkanovski for the 145-pound gold in the main event of UFC 298 this Saturday night. Topuria has been rather brash in the buildup for this title fight. He has already declared himself as the true UFC featherweight champion. He even said he wouldn’t give, Ortega, Max Holloway, or Yair Rodriguez a title opportunity.

Dan Ige is fresh off a devastating knockout victory, and the UFC featherweight already has some intriguing names on his mind. Ige shared the Octagon with Andre Fili in the main event of a UFC Fight Night card in Las Vegas on February 10. One solid punch to the jaw, and Fili was done. Ige landed one more punch on a floored Fili to seal the deal. “50K” lived up to his nickname, snagging a “Performance of the Night” bonus for his efforts.

Tonight’s main event did not make it out of the opening round. After an entertaining opening couple of minutes, Yair Rodriquez went for an armbar submission. It appeared that Brian Ortega was fighting out of the hold when suddenly his shoulder popped. The injury resulted in the fight being stopped and ‘El Pantera’ was named victor by way of injury TKO.
